Too many Blue text names in the Authors colum...

Post by Lost Rider »

I'm going to come at this a little less.... obvious than last time.
I see a whole lot of new members, and most importantly BLUE Names in the thread author columns...

In case none of you have read the "membership" thread at the top of the page, this forum is fully supported by some hard work by a few volunteers, and ultimately ran by Doug. For Free.
"Members" donations are what keep this board running, and I like that Doug keeps it free for all to see, but if you find yourself in here when you should be working or paying attention to your family, but instead choose to open you minds and gather useful information from other members, or get motivated to do a long ride or any of the great things that happen around here.... you should consider giving back a pittance of what you're getting out of this online community.
By no means is anyone required to pay to be a part of this forum, but for those of you who have gained so much info, or made new friends, or just passed the time reading about a great motorcycle, then maybe you should become a member and give back to the community that feeds us all....

Lets face it, your name looks better in red, than blue anyways!

So if you feel like actually being a member of this online community, go over to Dougs thread and sign up, about the cost of a tank or two a gas, and become a supporting member. Plus you'll get to see all the stuff we post about non members over in the members only thread.....

LOOK HERE TO BECOME COOL:

I have no affiliation with r1150r.org what so ever, just another big mouthed member!!

And, just in case you missed my poem over there in the link Joe posted above:

The cost of a cool German motorcycle: a bunch

The cost of a cool online support forum: 5 and 1/2 cents a day

The cost of NOT being a cheap*ss freeloader: priceless!

(Just do it already)

And THANK YOU, Doug for all you do.

Now THAT was subtle, yes?

What he said. (Although guilt and coercion had nothing to do with it).

Doug,

We take all your hard work for granted, especially when the site is running as good as it is now. The improved performance did not happen by itself. Backroom guys get all the grief when something isn't perfect and get totally ignored when things are just humming along. You are one selfless dude, so a great big THANKS for all those all nighters that have gone into this great board, it's awesome!

And thanks to Joe for so clearly stating what shouldn't be needed to be stated in the first place.

I will add my 2 cents worth, and that is: THANKS DOUG! You do a terrific job. I have received a great amount of valuable advice from this board. It is worth every penny of the life membership. Everyone is so helpful and as a beginner I have found so much help here on so many issues. Thanks to one and all.

As above, and to Joe for reminding us (again) what a valuable asset we have here. I remember not too long ago I would have paid WAY more that the lifetime membership fee for this amount of quality information, not to mention the speed at which you can get a (or many) helpful response(s) to all the weird questions that crop up.

For all the new riders, or new BMW owners for that matter, a model specific site like this is worth it's weight in gold.

I have only one small gripe. The domain should be R1200R.org. Dont'cha think? ;)

Thanks again Doug!

Well - I do own www.R1200RFanatics.com - but Doug's never asked.. and I never really pushed it (leads to my homepage, which has an R12R Forum hanging off it.. a ghostly R12R forum..) :)

I just found this thread. Thats funny about the url. Yes as soon as I heard a new model was coming out, I reserved http://www.r1200r.org/ - you need to do this quick these day so if you guys hear of an updated model, please let me know right away so I can reserve it. :)

Thanks for all of the kind words and support you've all shown over the years and in this thread. Its fun to be part of something useful that generates real value for so many people. Also thank you to the members that signed up last week. I actually came to the site looking for this thread, I figured there must be one to get more than one member in a week! :)

Thanks again, and have fun everyone!

Thanks for the reminder, ChiTown -- I've been meaning to become a member for a while. My name should turn non-blue as soon as Doug processes my order.

I've picked up lots of useful info from this forum. Reading all the stories from the interesting characters here is another big benefit! :D
