Just added Remus and PC Whooopeee!

Post by Josh_S »

Thursday night I added a complete Remus system, with Powercone silencer. I also added Wunderlich Power Commander. I rode up into the San Bernadino Mountains this weekend and what a Blast! I runs strong and sounds deep and throaty, but not loud. I removed the baffle and its still not Harley loud. I love the sound, makes me want to rev it at every stop light. The throttle response is better, and the power increase really kicks in over 5500 RPM. Milage I'm still getting around 45 MPG but I'm driving harder. AS for dialing in the Wunderlich PC, I am baffled by their instructions, so I'll take it to my Mechanic and have him dial it in. He said he can get better boost in the 4000 -5500 rpm range. I'll post pix tonight.

Anyone who says Remus and more fuel isn't worth it hasn't ridden an "R" with it IMO.
I also put some cam sprockets on mine which gave 9deg advance and the bike pulls from nice with no flat spot at 4-5000 rpm. Infact it feels stronger everywhere. I doubt there is more hp but it's fun to ride.

I've just added the Remus backend (can) and love the difference. Headers on the way and CAT to be ditched soon. Hope it results in an overall +ve.

Don't know if it makes any difference in performance although I think things are smoother in the power delivery but what the fu#@ it feels better and takes the blandness out of the ride.

Now it is truly a roadster in every sense of the concept!!!

Does the power cone interfere with the BMW saddlebags?

It looks very nice. I heard one on a 1200GS yesterday and it sounds great.

I tried the saddle bags, and they have plenty of clearance, more in fact than the OEM silencers.

I added a Remus Powercone last month and the sound alone is worth the price. Decided on the titanium with a shorter length for a sleek look. I feel the same way as the original poster in that a few revs at every stoplight is a must. My daily commute improved from good to outstanding.

celticus, I got them off a guy in Aussie, he did a lot of testing and found 9 deg advance works well on these Beemers. You need a fuel adding device too and I'm using a techlusion I got from Custom Dynamics, who have great service and pricing. I won't comment too much on the sprockets because I have no dyno data to back it up. Seat of the pants would suggest more torque where it was rather flat (4-5000 rpm) in stock mode and then it rips up to the limiter quickly. I believe he may have sent a batch of sprockets to Robert Forster in the US if you care to contact him. From memory mine cost around $220 AUD.

celtisus, not at all, just taking care breaking the torx bolt and not to letting the cam chain move on the OE sprocket when swapping them over, all up a bit over an hour.

I like the way the Remus looks and sounds. When you added the backend did it require a remap. If you just add the can is doing anything else necessary?

If you just do the slip on is remapping required. I want the slip on but I'm getting different answers regarding this. What do you think?

I did it all at the same time so I'm not sure. I would talk to Remus USA they will have an answer I'm sure.

Want to add a Remus to my R1200R to lower the muffler and get more space to mount my Jesse bags. I saw the pictures but need to know what kind of pipe you use between the Cat outlet and the Remus pipe. I would prefer not to cut the original pipe.

Remus sells a connecting pipe. I put all new headers.

The guys at Hollywood BMW dialed in my Wunderlich Power Commander and now this baby ROCKS! Smooth all the way up the revs.
