The definition of idiosyncratic most likely does include BMW motorcycle ownership. You are correct; go to a rally and SEE idiosyncratic.

Thank You RonR. For all you R1200R riders. No need to remove the battery or the gas tank. I just did mine, and it's as simple as RonR posted. Remove the side cover, undo the two clips holding the snorkle and the air filter is staring at you in your face.
I can not believe where this post headed. All I was looking for was help with my air filter.

I, for one, am sorry to see this thread unravel with Herbert's departure. I didn't follow Don's lead and block posts from "Wildpig" as I wasn't willing to give up the laughs. As for you, Caroanbill, one word: Brilliant!

Aw, schucks. I was having too much fun .. .. I PM'd Doug to promise I'd henceforth be good. It started coz the way the pig mouthed off at guys like Don who really MAKE this board got my goat, and when I get really annoyed my instinct for satire comes out ..

Harry: "idiosyncratic" is high praise from me. I like Guzzis and their owners .. and I realllllly like how much their own folk they are (I even 'get' some of the HD image) ..

Mark Yep, I've been to more than a few BMW rallies where idiosyncratic would the most apposite term - I even used to run one over here, the Kosciuszko Rally .. highlight was about 1992, when an R80ST was knocked over (while moving) by a cranky wombat (true tale). We all fell down too, coz we were laughing so hard. Still laughing when we feel down coz we'd had too much red wine.

I did not boot him. His email account was found to be invalid, so the system put him in a mode that forces him to reactivate. His account is still here - just needs to enter a valid email address. But for others that are reading this, I would just like to mention that we do not stand for abusive or rude commentary here.

Its easy to get involved and emotional with these web rants and arguments, but please refrain. In the end no one is happy and I think it ruins the experience. We've been through this many times over the years, some more explosive than others. The folks who have been here a while know what I'm talking about. The best policy when reading something offensive (whether directed towards you or not) is to ignore it. If you absolutely MUST reply, send off a NICE personal message (PM) to the author letting them know your dissatisfaction. Remember that most of the time when something offensive is written, the author just wants attention, so why give it to him?

The best rule of thumb is to think to yourself before posting.. "Would I say this to him/her if we were all sitting around a campfire???"

Anyway, I'd like to move on here and get back on topic (BMW bikes). I'm closing this thread.
