Post by Sydney Oilhead »

Seeking Info on the Alpine White factory colour new for the R1200R / local dealers have not seen it on the model as yet and I am having my bike repainted in white / if anyone has seen the actual colour >> Is it a flat white or does it have a pearl effect or metallic in it ??
asked the painters for alpine white but expecting to get the standard Rt police white > is it the same if anyone knows ?
Thanks in advance

I have seen one at the local dealer. It is glossy but has very little pearl, no metallic. Seriously lusting after that bike, just saving my pennies for now...

I saw one last October. It's a glossy white with no pearl or metallic, like a Storm Trooper.

It looks VERY nice. Really brings out the lithe shape of the R12R. Both my local dealers have one on the floor.. and I'm resisting buying a mate to my black '07..

Granite Grey Metallic is faster

I saw one at Ft. Worth BMW last week. The white looks nice, but not my thing. Probably fool a lot of cagers into thinking it is a cop bike though !

One peculiar thing about the white is that BMW, in some kind of illogical decision, uses the granite grey cover piece behind the seat and over the taillight instead of carrying through the white theme all the way. Strange :-k

Hello, this is my my first time posting pics of my baby. Enjoy! (and my first post in this forum) I have had my R1200R for about 3 months now and do not miss my old Speed Triple that I traded in for her. Farkles added so far are a Sargent seat and Throttlemeister. Pics were taken with my new phone (Samsung Pixon with an 8 mega pixel camera) I just felt some closer pics were needed....

Just bought this a few weeks back. I kind of like the black one with the pinstripes, but
that isn't available in the US apparently. I like the white too.

About to buy a nearly new R1200R. The bike I am considering has the right spec but is in the wrong colour - Grey.

We have enough rain in UK , I don't need reminding, so will have to organise a re-spray. Was thinking black then I saw the white on this thread. Wow.
Anyone have details of the BMW white paint spec?

Uhhh... it's white? Standard color for '09. Shouldn't be a problem finding one..

there you go : http://www.bmbikes.co.uk/paintcodes.htm

if you know how to use photoshop, you can play with color choices using this file.

(i also have a grey, thought about painting it out of the door because of its street camo properties, but it's growing on me. I'm wondering how a "classic silver" r12 would look, though...)

have you thought about black pinstripes on your white one ?

The white is very nice, and if it had been available in '08, I would have gotten that. Got such a ravin' deal on an equipped granite gray I couldn't pass it up (but I hated the color).

The piece at the tail is silver on all the R12R's... has nothing to do with granite gray. But I do agree the primary color of bike should be extended to that piece back there. Personally, I couldn't stand granite gray, except for fact it hid dirt very well. Had mine custom painted (even completely under tank and back sides of fender and side panels) including the tail cover, and my Givi's color-matched on the textured side panels.

My local Beemer club went nuts when the saw it for first time, as well as several dealers which I pulled into. This color reveals the lines of the bike better than any color R color. Actually shows better in person than in the pics... but I let it go for the new K13s.

It's not quite white, but quite close unless up close...

I'd thought about getting a white one to go with my black one, and pinstriping the white one..

Ending up buying another M-Coupe instead.. go figure. About as much fun as you can have with 4 wheels.

Funny thing - the white looks OK with the black lettering.
I'd have thought, based on how the black clashes with Crystal Grey, that it would be awful - but it's quite good on the white.
My lettering lasted almost 2 hours of ownership before I removed it.

I understand BMW added White to mollify those who were neither sophisticated enough nor quick enough to get Crystal Grey

I also hear it's nearly as quick ...
