spinning wheel in neutral
So I recently noticed that my rear wheel is slowly spinning while in neutral. Recently I put on a new final drive unit that has a lower gear ratio than is normal for the R1150 rockster. That is about the same time I noticed this spinning. Is my clutch too tight, or is there a failure going on?
Re: spinning wheel in neutral
Both our Roadster and Rockster exhibit the same behavior: wheel spins slowly sometimes when bike's on centerstand and engine running.

It's normal.....when the bike is in neutral the input shaft of the transmission is turning at idle rpm, with the wheel of the ground there is not suficient drag to ofset the shear of the lubricant on the gears and allows them to turn, hence the rear wheel turns slowly when off the ground.

What he said - virtually all bikes do it.boxermania wrote:It's normal.....when the bike is in neutral the input shaft of the transmission is turning at idle rpm, with the wheel of the ground there is not suficient drag to ofset the shear of the lubricant on the gears and allows them to turn, hence the rear wheel turns slowly when off the ground.
