Not so sure about that. The BMW site is still listing the GS and RT. The ST lasted only a year or so, lack of sales.

Technically, the 1200's are all Hexheads now. Oilheads refer to the 850, 1100, and 1150 versions.

Re: Has BMW given up on us oilheads
I couldn't believe that myself. Not even the R1200S is available any more. Wow! I would have thought they would take the new HP2 sport engine and trickle that down to an R1200S. Especially after the great showing the HP2's made at Daytona last year.
They are definitely changing their image and I'm sure they fully expect that sales of the new bikes will slowly overtake the boxer engine bikes...
Chain and belt drives... vertical twins... 175 hp I4 bikes... S1000RR crotch rocket... no telelevers... Guess you have to change with the times or go the way of the dinosaurs...

Re: Has BMW given up on us oilheads
BMW Motorrad was counting on the R1200 to get away from the Oilheads, what they didn't plan on was that the oilhead had more charisma and the Hexhead hasn't sold as they would want. To top it off a lot of people have abandoned the brand after the oilhead and then came the recession.
I love it when a plan comes together......
