Bag liners

Hi, folks,

So ... Bag liners for the R12R panniers.

BMW makes one, for around $90-105 each, although I found them rather hard to locate on-line. (Wound up searching for RT liners...) RKA and Cee Bailey also make liners, for $105 and $79, respectively per set. A&S have them listed for around $100 per bag, and are apparently left-and-right specific.

From what I can tell, the Cee Baileys look the most feature-rich, especially given the price, but...?

I have had excellent service from Kathy's bags which are available from Bob's BMW in Maryland. I had a set that I bought for my then new 1989 K100RS-ABS and subsequently used for the next several bikes and countless miles. They still look like new and have been washed many times. When I bought the R1200R, though, they really didn't fit well so I bought new ones for both the saddlebags and the trunk. The fit and workmanship are first rate. Better than OEM in my opinion. I also have purchased Kathy's tool pouch and a small duffel and both are still in service going on 20 years. The prices are very reasonable too.

+1 on Kathys / Bob's BMW.

Used only BMW liners for 2 decades, paying top dollar for mediocre quality at best - often quite poor with avoidable design flaws. Kathys are inexpensive, and of appropriate quality. Nothing's perfect - my topcase liner is already wearing a bit at a particular scuff point, but these are light bags so I expect that (heavy duty BMW bags are as bad or worse).

.. the internet (and UPS, fedex et al) have transformed the accessories market in the upside-down corners of the world - we had no real non-oem options downunder until quite recently ... now we have a smorgasbord, and it's lead to a healthy distributor aftermarket as well. Amen!

I have the OEM liners for all three cases. I ordered them with the bike this spring, fit and finish are excellent, though the heavy duty construction takes up valuable space in the cases. I use the side liners for the traveling clothes and they are handy to simply remove and carry into the hotel/motel. I use the topcase for the stuff I need on the road: rain gear, different gloves, ear plugs, etc so I don't use the liner for the topcase and suspect that I never will. I've been happy with the OEM liners.

+1 - mine have about 5-6,000 touring miles on them, and they have done exactly what I wanted from a set of bags.. they make it easy to cart crap (clothing mostly) back and forth. No complaints at all. CeeBailey used to advertise them occasionally on EBay - making them even a bit cheaper..

I got the BMW liners. I thought for the price they would be something special. They're not, and I'm sorry I paid the extra money.

I also got the BMW liners bought them used, perfect condition paid $100.00 wouldn't pay list, but they are nice.

A friend of mine has CeeBailey bag liners. They are nice. Kathy's are nicer in my opinion. If you can wait for the MOA National next summer you can probably find both and compare. I am laughing a bit about those of you who have 5 or 6 thousand miles on yours. My first set of Kathy's have, no joke, over 150K miles of touring on them and still look like new. I bought new ones only because the old ones really did not fit well inside the new luggage and there was wasted space. Kathy was making bag liners before anybody else in the business. When I bought that first set in 1989, I couldn't even get them from BMW.
