iPod accessories

Hi.....what do you guys/gals use for the wireless iPod remote control and the bluetotth adapter for headphones (transmitter goes into ipod and you connect your own headphones to the receiver)......if you can also provide the good, bad and the ugly about the products you use i'd appreciate it.

I would also like to hear what others are using. I own a Griffin Air Click remote control for my IPod but don't use it. I mainly listen to books on tape through my Shure Headphones. My wife has fussier ears and had to have more expensive "The Big Ear" earphones. When we ride two up we use a splitter. Pretty simple. When I listen to music I try to make a long play list sos I don't have to fiddle with the IPod as I drive.

Not sure if this would do what you want.. I use a Jabra BlueTooth goober (the one that looks like dog-tags) with Etymotic 6i earbuds. The Etymotic's provide as much noise attenuation as my custom earplugs do, and are almost as comfortable. The sound from them is excellent.

The Jabra BT goober is a BT3030 - which can be found on-line for around $40. (list around $80)

It comes with earbuds that appear that they might work OK under a helmet, dunno since I haven't tried them. It recharges fine off the USB port on a laptop, or with the provided charger, and seems to last > 8 hours on a charge.

I use it with my Navigator-III and it works quite well. It lives in the front pocket of my Roadcrafter, and I no longer walk away from my bike yanking the earbuds painfully out of my ears. I don't do cell phone when moving, and mine is a vacuum tube phone, so no BlueTooth on it... can't say how well that works.

Hi Don......is there two jacks in that thing....one for microphone and the other for headphones?...you will also need a transmitter that would attach to the ipod....correct?..BTW...I use Etimotic earphones also (for the last 4 years) the best earphones for moto use in my opinion....great on planes also.....

Alex - has a built in microphone, no jack.

Works well but requires audio output through the headphone jack instead of docking port (line out) to use volume controls.

My perfect iPod gizmo would combine the features of the iJet with the Belkin Auto Kit:

The Belkin's amplifier easily drives helmet speakers via an Autocom, which proves difficult with just the iPod output alone.

I have the ijet as well with cheapo foam earbuds from Radioshack.

Re: parkec: Yes, I do listen to my ipod while riding. I rode last week without it and found that I was more distracted without it than with.
My volume is more set to background music.

Actually - I don't with one exception, all day slab rides in good warm weather. It helps keep me awake. I've done it exactly once.

I do use the BlueToof for listening to Doofus (the GPS lady) tell me where to go.

The wife scored the old model shuffle on close out for $35.00 so I had her get one for me thinking that would be sweet for on the bike, just put it on shuffle and go. I've been off and on motorcycles since 1972 and I've never had anything as disconcerting (I've been scared a hell of alot) as hearing music and not being able to hear what the bike was doing. I had them in my ears less than 5 minutes before I pulled them out. I could maybe see it while slabbing away but they are not for me uh uh, no way.

I've never even been tempted. I like being alone with my own thoughts. It's one of the reasons I ride.

Lately I've had my ipod going most of the time. Pat Metheny helps me focus.
