White (clear) turn signal lens

Post by romanr »

Just a simple curiosity.

I cannot recall seeing a picture of a bike without the white turn signal option - and all that I've heard about have it. I'm not sure they ever built an F800 without it. What does the other turn signal look like and why is the white/clear so popular? The factory charges extra for this (although not much); I assume the standard is the same shape/style with an amber lens with a clear bulb. Why is one better/prettier than the other?

Look at Don's bike http://www.eilenberger.net/R1200R_Roads ... Rindex.htm.

He has amber lenses.

I, too, have wondered why the white/clear is so popular. Just a glance at it shows the amber bulb inside.

Here is a link from the AD Rider Website.
If you scroll through you will find quite a few pictures of our bikes, including ones with yellow indicators.

I prefer the white covers......blends in with the bike

Maybe 'cos they're free? Mine came with clear signals, centrestand, computer and chrome exhaust as no cost option. I kinda wanted the satin exhaust to hide the road grime and couldn't give a rats about indicator colour but the deal was too good. Had the thing 8 months and might have washed it twice maybe?

Want looks - get a Ducati....

My 2007 came with the amber lens. Does that make it too "american". I actually kinda like them because the clear lens seems so common on this bike.

Not if you switch to LED indicators. I've seen the clear covers described as "LED-ready" in BMW sales literature. Much nicer to keep it black/white as much as possible, IMO.
