Re: tank protector?
Ebay. Do a seach on R1200R in EbayAutos. Several kits will pop up. I've also bought the stuff (3m film) in rolls from various sources who make kits, and cutout my own protector that goes between the two white pin-stripes on my tank. Not really noticeable edges doing it this way.racing.mike wrote:what do you use and where to get it?

There was also some static cling stuff sold for a while - I think in the MOA mag a few years ago. I think that might work well under a tank bag.. but for mine, I used the sticky stuff.

Re: tank protector?
I put a tank protector on the bike for the area where my belt is, if that is what you are talking about. It was purchased at an accessory store here in Sacramento that has since gone out of business. This is an old pic from my Ohlin and Hugger post but you can see the tank protector. This one is exactly the same black as the tank so is barely visible. The mistake I made was cutting it off too high instead of allowing it to extend below the seat line. Otherwise it is perfect.

Horning sell cut-to-shape kits of clear adhesive film for $$$$$$.

Got 'em on my painted panniers (but not on the tank), and they're nigh-on invisible.

A friend of mine had his r12r painted with clear paint the day it was purchased. Two coats. That also did a great job of keeping it prestine ,p
