Owner's manual online or in PDF Format?

Post by LeonardoNYC »

I usually like to take my owner's manual on long trips but don't like leaving on the bike in the tool kit (and I use that term loosely) as I enjoy re-reading the manual at home. I can get a PDF owner's manual for my DVR, mobile phone, computer, printer, watch, microwave oven, sun glasses, and more but it seems BMW hasn't caught up to the rest of the planet in providing this. Has anyone scanned the manual and put it online as a PDF and if not I'd be OK doing it as long as we can post it somewhere. I wonder if that's against any copyright laws though as maybe there's a good reason BMW doesn't provide online--other than charging you for a new one?

You scan it, I'll be happy to host it. I'm not worried about copyright laws what so ever. I like living on the edge... :smt082

Great...now if I can only find it! My cleaning lady seems to find a place for some things that only she knows about! Does anyone know how to say,"have you seen a motorcycle manual" in Spanish?

The wonders of google..I had been searching for R1200R owners manual in PDF file format...( go to google advanced search and choose PDF--you can find some interesting things) but alas it was found under "r1200R manual"

Here's the link : http://www.bmw-motorrad.dk/dk/da/bikes/ ... R_2008.pdf

It's house on BMW Germany's site --the link is the English version but other languages are available if you back space the URL to the .DK.

Maybe we should host it somewhere just in case the folks at BMW get wise? It prints out nicely on letter sized paper by the way.

I found a Swedish owner's manual on the BMW Motorrad Sverige downloads service. I browsed the BMW Motorrad's web sites for other countries, but could not find anyone containing manuals for downloading. You could at least look at the nice pictures if you don't understand Swedish... :smt120

Sorry. I didn't see the post about the manual on the Danish BMW site before I posted my reply.

Maybe you can learn some Swedish by comparing the Swedish manual and the Danish/English one...
