Welllll... It sure did sound like you have stripped splines, either clutch or shaft, more probably both. You're gonna have to do something. Do you have a trailer to shop around with? Do you think BMWNA is going to cover your repair at another dealer, when they wouldn't at this one? I wouldn't put much confidence on the accuracy of phone calls; you're not dealing with the technician.

Do you think he has not thought of these already?

I asked the Dealer to give me a price on a new F800ST with trading in my bike. MSRP on the one i wanted was $12,740. he left me a message friday night and said he had some numbers for me, and that he was giving me a sweet deal. I got kinda excited . So I called him back today. He said he was taking $1,000 off of the MSRP for me. Which would be $11,740, pretty good, I thought to myself. Then he told me that if i left my bike there, I could get the "UNBELIEVABLE" deal on an F800ST for $9,000!! Soooo.....$2,740 for my bike on a trade Woooohooooo!!!! I laughed at him, and told him I'd be picking up my bike in the morning.
See, I told you guys, half the time I dont know what I'm talking about.

I won't prentend to be an ace mechanic, but I've got a pretty well stocked garage & small machine shop and I make a living as an engineer. I've been planning on taking mine apart over the winter to check. I'm willing to give up a weekend helping you out with this. I'm about a four hour drive from Cleveland in NY. PM me if you're interested.
I think I am thoroughly disgusted and done with BMW's, until (if ever) they take responsibility for all the failures..splines, FD's etc. If it happens, I may consider another BMW. Dont get me wrong..I absolutely love my rockster, but no longer have faith in BMW as a corporation to do the right thing. A company that denies any and all quality issues?...not gettin a penny of my hard earned money anymore. Next move is gettin the bike fixed, riding it for the rest of the season, selling it in spring and buying this:
I will hopefully get one before I see you all at the next Bash

Did the dealership never examine the bike, did a factory rep. never inspect the damage, and if not, have you notified BMW of the dealership's Telling you an outright lie? I have no faith in dealerships anymore, I asked my dealership to check my Quick-connects two years ago when they were doing a service on it and they told me they replaced them under warranty. Well a week agoo, I am an hour from home when gas starts spraying all over my legs. I have to tow the bike home, I call the dealership the next day and they tell me they have no record of changing my disconnects under warranty. I tell them that it is pretty obvious since the original ones were still on the bike. They finally agreed to mail me 2 new ones, but I doupt I will go back there, I just hate being lied to. Time to find a new dealership to do my services, maybe in Raleigh, who knows....

Apparently they told me a straight out lie. The bike was never apart when the rep was at the dealership. However they did have 2 other bikes with the same problem there at that time. So maybe the rep looked at one of the other bikes . They are never getting another cent from me. My business will be going to Mathias BMW from now on.

GREAT NEWS!!! Not only are the splines on the clutch disk worn to the nubs, but the input shaft splines are gone too . From the original quote of $1280 to $2120. Naturally the Rep never even looked at the bike when he was there, no warranty, no help. What do you guys think I could make parting the whole bike out? Or do I fix it, ride it the rest of the season and sell it at the beginning of next season? Think I'm gonna throw up just thinking about it . One thing for sure though, I will never own another BMW again

Johnny, I think you could make more parting it out than trying to do anything else (except maybe selling it to Beemerboneyard).
I'll buy your brakes and wheels - front/back with current rubber, axle, rotors, calipers, SS lines, etc. Set a price, we'll figure shipping/pickup if you don't win the XT225!
I'll also be interested, as you get deeper into it, to get other parts. Such as.... hmmm, let me see.... ask Michael Figelski at Beemerboneyard for his offer on the bike as is, with a none operating spline(s).... let me know what he says. I might want to buy the entire thing at a wholesale (sorry Johnny) price.

So it wouldnt even be worth getting fixed? Pretend you dont want any of the parts If I part it out, I wont have a bike till next year, cuz I figure it would take me awhile to sell the parts to come up with a decent amount of $$ for another bike
