New to R1100

Post by OU812 »

I just picked up a R1100RT as forgot to look at the oil filter. Is it open like the newer 1150? I ordered a couple of K&N oil filters and I gave my BMW oil filter wrench to the buyer of my last BMW. The K&N has the nut on the bottom of the filter and my K bikes had a access cover (not good for the K&N) for the filter so if they are open I am good to go. If not..... #-o
Thanks all!
Steve

The R1100R oil filter is well hidden and only the BMW tool will get 'em off... $25

Welcome....smart choice :D

The filter is the same as the R1150RT, which is up under the bottom of the pan adjacent to the oil drain plug.
As regards the filter wrench, you can go here http://www.beemerboneyard.com/kohfilterwr.html and get it for $8.95 and the filters for cheaper than your local stealer  !
