Chicago BMW Customer Service

Post by Ves »

Am I the only one that finds that Chicago BMW does not answer their Emails and does a poor job of keeping me posted on status of my order? If it wasn't for their dirt low prices I don't think I'd do business with them... :doubt:

I thought it was widely known that Chicago BMW has the worst customer service, but we put up w/ it because of the prices...

I love the prices, but you get what you pay for.

Big Papa...nail, head, hammer.

Patience is required when ordering from them.

ditto. If it is Monday, and you need something by Friday for the trip you are taking, do not rely on Chicago BMW.

If it is April, and you need something for a trip in June, you should be OK.

That may be ok. BUT, when I ordered my GS handguards in early Sept last year, they showed up about 4 days before I left for the Fall Bash in Nov. 6 weeks. They also billed me a different price than they quoted. I won't use them again. I am pissed about the change in price with no heads up.

Great, so if I ordered something mid June and need it before second week of July, I'm screwed?

I suggest you call them. They do not seem to be very internet oriented. You might be OK.

Call Marvin at Holt BMW. No discounts, but he gets stuff out quick.

Called them yesterday... guy said they received a shipment but they hadn't looked through it yet... he checked and the stuff is there... Whew! I asked them to hold it until Saturday so I can just pick it up... They're about 35 miles away, but at least I know I'll get the stuff on time.

I've never really ordered something from them where I needed it for a certain date... just have to remember to order early next time.

I can't pass up the discounts... [-X it's against my principals... :)

Dang... 2 Months, good thing you didn't really need them? Those guys are really low key over there. Problem is they stock nothing much and they have to order everything from BMW. The guy has boxes all over the place... I don't know how he keeps it organized. Stuff everywhere.

I'm happy to say I picked up my parts today... 14 days.

I stopped by there last summer before I bought my bike while on a business trip. It is kind of a hole in the wall. The guys were friendly enough and the shop area was pretty squared away but the parts department was a shambles as Ves says. Never a business dealing with them just an on site observation.

My experience has been mixed: Sometimes I get stuff pretty quickly; other times it takes weeks. I get the impression that most of the parts are ordered from Germany (the boxes always have German printed on them), shipped to Chicago and reshipped from there. I imagine they do it this way to avoid inventory expense, but it can sure be frustrating. I usually order from them if it's something I don't need right away.

I believe the parts come from a distribution center in Mt. Olive, NJ, very close to where I live.

So it is frustrating for me to wait for the parts to go from NJ to Chicago back to NJ.
