I have the tall seat and the Alaska Leather sheepskin butt pad. It is a good combination for me. The sheepskin is especially good in hot weather because you don't have to peel yourself off the vinyl seat.

If you use the code "deadsheep" you get a discount from Alaska Leather.

Their service is unbelievable. IIRC, I had it the day after I placed the order, from Alaska to NJ.

+1 on the Sheepskin from Alaska Leather. Great customer service, and use the coupon rdsmith listed.

It has made many 500+ mile days much more comfortable.

I had an installed AirRider on my old 1100R, but they don't do that anymore on Beemers, so I had a Rick Mayer gel seat made. I sat on a Rocky Mayer, but it was too hard for me. I don't have a lot of my own padding on my butt, so I need a resilient cushion or I'll bruise. I used to use beads back when I was on a cruiser, but they bruise my bones in the Beemer upright seating position. I still use a sheepskin for the warmth when it's cold and the cool when it's hot, but the problem with sheepskin is that when it rains it goes into the bag, and you're back in contact with the seat. On trips we all ride 10 or so hours a day, day after day, and while my neck and knees get sore and tired, I never even notice my skinny butt anymore. Which means the Rick Mayer must be a great seat. I'd love to know they are as comfortable on the 1200R.

+100 AirHawk

Way better than the other alternatives, your butt will thank you IMHO.
I still use mine even with a Rick Mayer seat, I don't leave home without it for anything over 100 miles, and even did a 1140 mile Iron Butt ride with the Airhawk.

This opinion is worth exactly what you paid for it.
