I heard they were coming out with a liter bike and were working on a triple as well. I have no interest in a 1000 cc sport bike, and if I were, I would probably buy a Japenese bike based on price AND they have been working on the technology on these liter bikes far longer than BMW has.
I will be curious to see if they produce a triple as I test rode a Triumph Street Triple about 3 weeks ago and I must say that I was impressed. Fun factor was high and ergonomics were great, although touring might be a different story with not a lot of options for screens or luggage.

I had a 99 Triumph Sprint ST with the 955 triple and it is an awesome motor. The 1050 is no doubt even better. I Ttaded it for my R1200R (which also has an awesome motor).

I did try the Tiger as well. Tall bike, but very comfortable. I liked it too. We didn't go anywhere I could open it up a little.Try the Tiger. Same motor plus touring ergos.
The Street Triple doesn't have the 1050 motor. It has the 675 triple thats in the Daytona. Very quick and very responsive!!
