i found another site for the rear sub fender-- boy did i ever-- hornig outta germany-- rear fender for the r1200r shipping an handleing--- 500.00 give or take 3 bux--- outta my price league but it sho nuff looked like a piece o art. its listed on hornig's web site.

I bought one and I'm glad I did. And as it keeps her back clean, so is the wife. I think it looks good too. It is carbon fibre so it actually makes my bike lighter thus lessening my carbon footprint and saving the earth.

While searching for a better price on a hugger I came across this post:

....all of a sudden my rear wheel is off the ground and i get jolted around pretty good and was very lucky that i didn't fall off the bike...i look back and i see that piece of junk Hilemburger Hugger laying in the middle of the road...the impact of that against my rear wheel was so strong it actually caused the four bolts that hold the wheel on to become extremely loose...

Since the hugger fits so closely, perhaps the wheel was already loose allowing contact with the hugger, not the other way around?

I'd have to agree with that accessment. The wheel bolts had to be loose. No way contact with a hugger is gonna loosen up the rear wheel. The Illemberger (I think we're related) is a class piece, and if installed correctly I can see no way it could come in contact with the rear tire/wheel. Someone fooked up, and is blaming it at the wrong part.

I recently purchased and installed a rear hugger from Nippy Norman's in England. It's fiberglass, painted gloss black (like my bike), so it doesn't have the bling factor of CF, but it is well made, fits well, looks good and does the job intended, i.e., keeping things clean back there. Best of all, it cost only a little over $200 including shipping. The web site shows a price of 99 pounds but they charged me 84 plus 20 pounds shipping. Nice surprise. I like it better than the CF. In my case it matches the bike better.

In fact I just went to their website and ordered one.
