battery charging

I have 2002 R1150R with a gell battery that's about 3 years old that has been kept on a BMW advanced battery tender when not in use. I'm now getting a error message from the tender that says it's not connected properly. I've checked and cleaned all connections and even tried another tender with the same results. What could be going on?

Could be time for a new battery, do a volt test on the battery.

I have an older BMW charger that came with my K1100RS. It looks pretty basic, in that it only has a ampmeter on the front. It seems to be "smart" though, but it is smart enough for a 2004 R1150R?

Has the right plug and all...but it is probably not designed for CANBUS conveyances.

Thanks for the info.....I will take a look at the charger to see if it can shed any light on compatibility.
