16d nail....

Post by Karamazov »

It's a beautiful day in Austin, TX - which meant that I got up early to go riding. Did my pre-ride check and found a 16d nail projecting through the side of my rear. Must have picked it up yesterday. Now I know why they tell you to check your tires before you ride. That could have made for a bad day in the twisties.

Fortunately, it was holding air. The sucker was just barely clearing my exhaust can though. Anyway, got me a new souvenir! And a new rear (which was due for a change anyway.)

Ouch!

Makes you wish Johnson&Johnson made band-aids for radials!

Lucky you! The last nail I picked up I only had 500 miles on the tire. Ouch, that hurt!

I've never seen a more beautiful puncture with a nail. It looks pretty rusty. You might consider getting your bike a tetanus shot.

I see Lone Star BMW put up a picture of your tire on its web site. Where the hell were you riding when you picked up that nail?

Nice (http://www.lonestarcycle.com/.) A dubious fifteen minutes of fame, I guess. I must have picked it up on Lime Creek. I've been running it 3-4 times a week. There's a lot of new home construction going on out there.
