Late September ride 2007

Post by Swissbiker »

Hi guys

As spring is getting closer and closer and as it's getting warmer and the days longer i'm getting more and more excited to go out for after work rides or longer trips :D

It was a very mild winter here and i already had a chance to bring my little baby out on the fresh air last Saturday :D

As it's still not spring i went through the pics from last year...here are some of them from a late September after work tour last year...

Street sign at an altitude of 1300m (4265ft AMSL)

The mountain in the background is called "Saentis". Altitude 2502m (8208ft AMSL). The station on top is packed with antennas, recievers and transmitters to keep up the Radio, TV and cell phone signal transmission for the eastern part of Switzerland. The station is also equipped with a metrological institut which is responsible for weather forecasts and clima research. A big panorama restaurant is also part of the station. It can be reached by a two cabin (max. 80 persons per cabin) cable train.

Catenary and hauling rope of the cable train. Each of the two steel ropes has a diameter of almost two inches  The electrical driving motors have more than 1100HP
It takes only 8 to 10min to get from 1360m (4462ft AMSL) up to the top at 2502m (8208ft AMSL). That's a difference in altitude of 1142m (3746ft).

A good place to have dinner and enjoy the beautiful view... :D

BMW R80 Mystik special edition...great bike in very good condition :D Had a conversation with the owner who's 64 years old  He told me that he's owning this bike since almost 15 years now  He was anyway a really cool guy :D

A Swiss cheese dairy on the alp.

The alps are empty so the cows must be already back at the farms down in the valley...

The sun is going down while i'm heading home...

It was a beautiful and very relaxing after work ride :D :D :D

Take care

Nice photos Vito! The closeup of your speedometer had me fooled at first  I saw 180 and was thinking miles rather than kilometers.
