More Fuel Line Quick Disconnects

I got an email from A+S Cycles today with this new product (see above link). It seems like the answer to quick disconnect problem that has been discussed here so much.
I called my local BMW dealer here in the Seattle area and he discouraged using anything other than the plastic ones. His reason was that the extra weight of the metal QD's and the constant rattling under the tank. He said he saw a hole worn right into the under side of a fuel tank from a metal QD.
I might gives these a shot since right now all I have is one piece of FI hose with no QD at all.

There's nothing wrong with not having QD's, if you don't remove your tank very often.

There are other less expensive solutions: an piece of rigid copper tubing, or a 5/16 brass coupling fitting.

The one piece FI hose that you already have will do fine.

They look OK, have barbs and at $36.50 are a worthwhile addition to replace the plastic version......

BTW, JB has one of the neatest installs I've seen, with the FI clamps and the clamps are in perfect orientation.....kudos JB........

Prior to return to US for a two weeks visit, I placed an order (2 QDs) with OMEGA. I was so happy that they have them in stock and asked to have them send to my folks in Fort Worth. I got to Fort Worth and no QDs. I called Omega Customer Service and why they have not been sent to me yet. I was told. Since I placed my order from overseas, I must email or fax "Export Questionaire" to them in order to get my order. Well!! One week went by, NO QDs. I called them again, somebody is reviewing my export questionaire. Two days prior to heading to Japan, I called. "MY ORDER IS BEING REVIEW".

I am back to Japan; the QDs still not arrive. I finally emailed them and cancell my order.

My conclusion: Unless you are in US, Omega will not sell their QDs to anyone overseas, fear that I might use them illegal.

Great update, however, do stay away from the plastic versions, with time the plasticizer is driven off and they become brittle and crack at will, have you seen a plastic container left out at the mercy of the elements. Those plastic quick connects are good for small of road vehicles that dont see much use.

Hello People,
I too replaced the plastic disconnects on my 2003 r1150r. I believe these are a poor design, and a risk of a bad happening. My bike is stored in a barn, and I remove the tank and take out the battery for inside storage. The male side of the Q/D is the culprit, and I wouldnt want my leg to become gas soaked. I believe BMW needs to address this POOR quality part and assist people who invested in their quality machine? The dealer can say what they want to but I personally feel a whole lot better about replacement with metal. My dealings with Omega were 1st quality, and very prompt with email updates. Anyway thanks for the vent.
