Pelican topcase

I have a Wudo luggage rack on my 98' R1100r and was wondering how I could attach a lockable topcase (pelican or storm case) that would be easy to remove but secure enough so no one could just walk off with my case. I am a student/photographer and I would like to take my camera and laptop to class and work. I would like not to permantly hurt the luggage rack since it is in great condition.

Darcy, the OP found a solution for a removable/lockable Pelican case.

Further into the post, you will see my solution. Since I almost always carry camera gear with me, I attached my Pelican case permanently to my bike. Inside the Pelican case is a Lowepro camera bag made specifically for the case so I can just grab that and go.

If neither those solutions work for you, just use the search feature, type in pelican and you may be able to find other options.

I would like to be able to easly disconnect the case from the bike and just bring the whole case into work like a briefcase.

I have seen the lowpro case and it leaves no room for a laptop.

So...how about Dacy's solution in the link above

Don't know how much photo equipment you are talking about but to hold a laptop and camera equipment - it will be quite a bit bigger than a briefcase. I use the BMW system cases to hold my laptop and any extra gear.

will that plate attach to the wudo luggage rack on my bike? Or will I have to drill holes in the rack to attach a mounting bracket?

Looks like Darcy used u-bolts to attach the locking mount to the luggage rack. I'm not familiar with a wudo luggage rack so I can't answer your question.

Again, I don't know how much or what kind of camera equipment you plan to carry with your laptop but if it's an SLR with a few lenses, the pelican case will not be anything like a briefcase, more like a suitcase!

Also, keep in mind that attached to the pelican case will be that locking base. That will add to the bulk of your "briefcase".

Don't think there is an easy solution to what you want to do. Maybe others will chime in to help you out.
