Another another Lurker No More

Post by mickyt »

Hello to all I'm another from down under. Well I took a test ride (you guys know the rest lol)....back in Nov 07 and traded in a Harley for a black R1200R delivered in Dec. We have some good rides in the hills only minutes from home and the R is great out there. I like the brakes, fuel economy and light feel of the bike. I only have 2600 klms on the clock (1600 miles) and oil burn seems minimal.
Overall I'm happy with the bike except for comfort. For me the standard seat sucks bigtime and I'll be getting it reworked soon. I've put on some MV bar backs. The dealer would not swap for a low seat because it wasn't fitted from the factory. We went for a 300klm fang through the hills today and that was my limit on the thing. The guy who is doing the seat has done some r1200r seats before so I post some pics when it's done.

Anyhow please excuse me for not posting earlier and thanks to all who have put so much great info on this forum.

Congratulations!

I too found the stock seat amazingly uncomfortable. But after a couple of months I found it got better so now I am no longer sure if I will be swapping it.
Ride safe

Congrats Micky, I've had the same experience with the stock seat as Haas. Then I put on 2300 miles on it in Nova Scotia, Prince Edward Island. I don't know if it "breaks in" or what, but I'm keeping the stock seat now. Good luck to you.
Hank.
