Michelin Pilots

Post by JGP »

I've noticed on both front and rear Michelin Pilots a line that runs near the face of the tread around the entire tire. At first I thought maybe defective tires, but I've noticed it several other R12R equiped with Michelin Pilots.

Any idea what the lines are, any hazard associated to it. Also, anyone experiencing the tires being loud leaning/cornering either direction??

Thanks

Yes to both questions.

Mold marks on the Pilots have been noticed by most users. No apparent ill effects. And they do sing rather annoyingly on corners.

stock tires

What are the advantages and disadvantages with the those michelin pilots versus te continental attacks? Are those the two tires that most stock R12R's come from the dealer with?

Correction, those things are not mold marks. Michelin replied, in a different thread, that it is a static dissipation strip, and it generally becomes visible on bikes that aren't ridden a lot. Frankly I think the last part of the statement is hogwash. But, that's what they said. Do a search through the threads, you'll find the discussion.
