Hi all,
We just arranged the purchase of a new 07 1200R. We will be picking it up as soon as the DL1000 leaves (1 week) and we have room in the shed. We (my wife and I) have been thinking about this bike ever since we took a demo ride in the middle of last year. We have been riding for more years than I care to admit and this will be the fourth boxer mixed among 30 some other bikes. Can't wait and hope to meet some of you on the road.

Congrats Paul, You are going to be so surprised by this bike. I'm also a long term rider, and I really appreciate the R1200R's capabilities. Also came off other boxers, and this is by far the best. At my age, 65, I like the relative lightness of this bike. Yet it will tour just fine. I may add a higher windscreen though. The air over the stock high screen is nice and calm, but I would like even a little more proteciton. That's it for nits for me!! good luck to you both, and ride safe.

:D Yes - Congrats Paul - you will love it - like Hank I have had several BMW's all boxers mixed in with a sprinkling of all sorts of different bikes over the last 50 years since age 16 when I got my licence and this is without doubt the best.

Congratulations! Awsome motorcycle. I'm 5"8, 61 years old and the R is easy to move around, easy to get up on the center stand. Gets great gas milage. Great stopping power, goes like stink, great on the back roads around Santa Cruz, great on the slab. For me the R does everything I need and does it well. For me it is the best motorcycle I've ever had. I think you are gonna be very happy.

You should really enjoy your new ride. I traded my DL1000 also. Loved the bike, but I like a new toy every couple years and the R12R seemed like a good choice. Even though I'm a shorty I missed the legroom (took the deadly test ride) so I ordered mine with a tall seat and after a couple weeks got the Suburban Machinery peg lowering kit and SW Motec barbacks. This'll give you the roomy riding position of the Strom but with a lighter sportier machine. No tupperware to remove when you check the valves also.
