How cheap are you?

Post by Ves »

The subject came up in a different thread regarding what test someone has to pass to be willing to try Tomahawk tires on their motorcycle. I implied that you had to have a certain level of cheapness... Well, now you can find out just how cheap you really are: http://www.okcupid.com/tests/1061200855 ... Cheapskate

My results were:

Your Score: Penny counter
You scored 51% Cheapness!

THE test tracked 1 variable How you compared to other people your age and gender: I scored higher than 99% on Cheapness

So take the test and tell us the results. Clearly if you're at least 51% you're cheap enough to try some Tomahawk's...

None of those questions offered reasonable answers. Somewhat guided answer choices. But, I scored.

Depends on what I am buying.

Tires are not something that I cut corners on.

New socks, I can be cheap!

I scored a 22% which makes me Hospitable.

I am the cheap ass who did ask about the tires, cause I ain't gonna pay $330 for a set of new Pilot Road 2.

I also call poo to the idea that if a tire/helmet/whatever is the best cause it is the most expensive.

Jeff - I would agree 100% that the most expensive is not necessarily the best. There are some high-end tires that I would not buy again because I did not feel like they handled well or gave inferior wet traction.

Unfortunately, in tires though, there is usually a reason for being cheaper. If the reason they are cheaper doesn't bother you, go for it.

But if the compromise is poor handling or bad traction in the rain, I'll pass!

Edited to add - I scored 28%! 8)

I would have thought that I would be the ultimate cheapskate (ask my poor girlfriend). I am terribly cheap. I will work the toothpaste tube for a half-hour before I declare it empty.

Tipping on the other hand, that's just paying people for their work. I always pay somebody who has done work for me, in the manner which I would like to be paid.
I was dreaming when I wrote this, forgive me if it goes astray...

My fine feathered friends

That test is as flawed....as a three dollar bill, 70% of the questions don't apply to 80% of this board make up.......girlfriends and dates, a taxi ride, sex, restaurant tipping.....JEEZ.....give or receive.....he, he, he, BMW owners love to receive gadgets to put on their bikes.

I do contribute to charities and those in need....just my 2 cents.....

Boxermainia - I agree the test is flawed. Heck, I just took my first taxi ride in my life this past September, so a question about tipping taxi drivers is sort of moot!

And for someone married for 25 years, questions about dating and sex are sort of irrelevant. (I'll just leave that comment alone! )

OK, so I'm "Unselfish yet sensible". I guess that's true. I don't really pinch and I'm generous with those close to me.

I always tip well for good service, especially NYC taxi drivers who know where they're going and how to get around quickly. :)

I just took the test. It says I'm a saint, but probably get used for my generosity.

It then went on to say that I'm intelligent, witty, talented, clever, and have a bright future in front of me. The suspicious thing for me, though, was when the test result then asked for my phone number and real name and if I would be interested in going on a date.
