nothing like a day off

happy new year.... 8)

funny but sounds like boxermania would enjoy my job as much, if not more than I do

after all my dip was in computer science (hons)

always been a speed junkie, got the position by accident because of my development work on their engines
kept me @ the pointy end of the track 8) ....

You are right I would love to be doing what you do even without getting paid.....the thing is that there are always constraints which limits free thinking and potential areas of experimentation.

For those that haven't had a hand at porting, let it be, as more than likely you will end with something worse than what you started. Bigger and smoother are not always the means to the end.

Even with a flow bench (yoimprove and balance flows) you still have to take into consideration the planned use for the engine.

An engne is basically an air pump and the rate of air in and air out define the eficiency. Then add fuel and a spark which will then provide power and things get a bit complicated as you then have to maintain certain speeds in and out of the chamber, time the ignition, have good turbulence to promote A/F ratio mixing and then light the mixture at the time that will allow you the maximum amount of power allowed by the cylinder head and piston design.

IC science is fascinating and simple mods can yield great returns, but can also send you back to square one. Sorry, but I need to go into my dark room to experiment some more.....

Hello

Nice topic:)

I would like to have an optimal running engine but I don't want to consume more fuel and it has to be cheap;)

I have allready:

K&N airfilter
Remus Y-piece
Remus Titan exhaust
Halo (brisk) spark plugs

I'm thinking of changing the air inlet manifold en the 2 pipes at the TBH's

any other recommendations?

If you run 91 octane, advance the timing 3 degrees (that's about the maximum one can do). Time; 10 minutes if you are versed, 30 minutes if not (after you research what to do), cost $0.
