A few more pics

My digital camera pooped out on my trip to Arkansas, so I bought a disposable at a Dollar store for 5 bucks.

Here's a few pics I took along the way.

I saw this abandoned cemetery in NW Mississippi. I like checking out the old cemeterys, so I had to stop and have a look. This was off of Mississippi 316 in the Mississippi Delta.














I didn't take the time to wash off any of the inscriptions on the tombstones, but the oldest one I could make out was 1876, the most recent was 1972.
Looking around an unkempt place like this leaves me feeling a little melancholy, but it's also peaceful.

The bible verse came to mind as I looked around at the hidden and abandoned graves.
"by the sweat of your brow you will eat your food until you return to the ground, since from it you were taken; for dust you are and to dust you shall return." (Gen 3:19)

This was as peaceful a place as any for these folks to return to dust, but the Rockster & I still had some life in us , so we had to move on.







You know, cotton may not be King in the south any longer. but it sure plays a big part in the southern economy,

Here's a couple fields ready for harvesting, one in Alabama, one in Mississippi.

I stayed in Tupelo Miss my first night on the road, 760 miles, a good days ride.

Next morning, I rode a little bit of the Natchez Trace. The Trace runs north & south, and I was traveling east to west, but what the heck.

Perfectly manicured, peaceful, serene even. Also a federaly mandated 50 mph speed limit. Still, I'm glad I took a peek at it. Maybe Jude & I will come back & ride it on the Harley, then the 50 mph limlit will seem about right.




I got on US 49 to cross the Mississippi River into Arkansas. This is definitely the road less traveled(with apologies to Robert Frost)


Upon arriving at the motel in Ozark, some 1203 miles after leaving home, this is what I saw.


Apparently, Boxer, being from Georgia, didn't feel comfortable or "at home' unless there was a pickup out front up on blocks. so he made arrangements.....
Just kidding, an untimely flat tire, that's all.

A couple more shots within minutes of arriving.






That's all more now, maybe more later.

Great shots. I wished I could've made it on this trip. I'm impressed with your distance riding abilities - I wish I had the endurance to go that far in one day.
