On day 3 we left my daughter & son-in-laws home near Red Lion PA late in the morning.

The first photo-op wasn't MC but it seemed 'Americana' so I took a few.

Including the gratuitous bike inclusion;

Our next stop was a stop at the babysitter (in-laws) to see our grandson again before we left.

The next stop was a lot of interstate away, and by the time we arrived MLW had enough it. Mandate; no more interstate the rest of the trip.

We went all the way from Bob's to the Capitol on US 1 (one something) and it really sucked. We were both so bitchy from the heat, traffic and stoplights that we didn't stop for a single picture there. After a few hours MLW relented and we took the slab to Mansassas and stopped at a national park. We met a ADV Rider and took a few pics. He was in the midst of a Four Corners Tour. Nice to see another R-type.

We didn't see a lot of the park because we wanted to get to our hotel, but this struck me as a very sobering statistic.

We finally made it to the Skyline Drive, but without a lot of time to see much prior to nightfall. As it turned out we spent almost two hours driving it in the dark, and there are A LOT of deer there, fortunately they seemed to stay still and not spook.

We did manage to get a couple of shots before dark though.

We finally made it to the hotel only to find out that I closed the browser too quick the night before and the reservation that I thought I had was never completed. I learned my lesson; always get the confirmation number. Lesson #2; it's not worth the aggravation to talk to a clerk with a 'defective attitude' (Navy term). Finally, after hours of night riding that neither of us liked, we made it t a hotel near Monticello.

I really appreciate the detachable feature of the BMW side cases. The nightly routine of checking into the hotel was always quick and easy. More next time.
