Sydney to Phillip Island - Oct 07

Post by qfman »

Took the poor old beemer down to Phillip Island last week. Travelling the best roads in Australia over the Snowy Mountains takes 2 days each way. The other guys are mainly ex racers on sports bikes but I did my best to stay with them through the twisties. The R1150R handles as well as anything but between corners I wish I had another 30 horsepower....

One of our guys is recovering from a broken leg so he did the trip in an Audi RS4. 400hp, 4wd, manual transmission. An awesome car.

Looked like a fun ride. I know those roads, I know those pubs, and I know that race. I don't know those blokes, but they have the same bleary eyed look my buddies have when we do something similar.

Which way did you go after Marysville?

After Marysville

Where else but over Reefton Spur to Warragul and Korumurra and on to Phillip Island!

Great roads (had to put up with a little dirt around Eildon to find them)

Wouldn't that Jamieson/Eildon road be sweet with some bitumen?! Never, I say never attempt it if it's wet, unless you're a dirt bike fiend. The clay base will have you slippin' and a slidin' and a fallin' all over the place.
