No Corbin seat yet!
Has anyone talked to corbin yet? I would love one (mostly for the back rest for the wife) but they have told me back in April that I could expect one in late july, and when I asked them in July they said it was still in development, then they just stop answering my e-mails.

I think that's good news actually. In my opinion and from what I have hear from others, corbin's quality has gone down dramatically over the years. If you do a search for seats on this R12R board you will find several other after-market seat companies that are better than corbin and priced in the same range corbin offers.
Corbin did write back just after I posted this thread(I made another request that day).
They will consider development/production IF enough interest is noted. It would be nice if the folks on this site would also make a product request on Corbin's site just to get a reaction from an after market manufacturer. Sofar, not many copanies make farkles for this stellar bike!

Sargent or Corbin
I've emailed Corbin at your suggestion - good idea.
A few of us have pre-registered for Sargent's World Sport Seat
http://www.sargentcycle.com/bmwwsr12r.htm
Release date is, well, whenever - it moved out to Spring 08 a month or so ago. Pre-registration comes with a price offer and no-obligation. Sargent say:
"The initial response to this seat during development has been very good. "
Since it's a one-piece seat, I'm guessing it will look a bit like the late model (ie last of the bricks) K-RS/GT seat
http://www.sargentcycle.com/bmwwskrs.htm
I've not been a fan of Corbin over Sargent, but the Corbin F800 one-piece seat looks OK

As do F650CS and R1150 one-piece seats

Corbin Seats
I talked to Corbin a few weeks ago, and their reply was that they still need a motorcycle from which to design the seat and build the mold. To date, no one has volunteered to part with their R1200R for 6-8 weeks.
However, Corbin did say that if I wanted to schedule a visit, they could custom make a seat to fit the bike for me. And the seat could be made in a single day. They would create a brand new seat base, rather than use the original seat base, unlike other custom seat manufacturers who use the original BMW seat base.

I can understand time to develop a seat (6-8weeks) but it makes me wonder how they got a seat ready for the spank'n new Kawi
c14 so quickly? Thanks for all the input people, maybe if more and more folks ask as many aftermarket copanies for needed products we will have a better selection of goodies to pick from ......I sure dig that back rest feature on the corbin..got my fingers crossed for x-mass.
