After buying my panniers (BMW) from Motorworks; a snip at £340 new including the lock kit to match your ignition key

I was looking at inner bags or liners... The BMW offerings aren't cheap, so I've been trying to find an alternative.

And @ £79 a set good value for money, but... has anyone else had experience of this manufacturer (Cee Bailey?) I've found another independent option, "Mane Event" I think it was but they didn't look that great (IMO) Are there any others I've not spotted (UK)

Reason for looking is that I found the panniers a bit of pain to pack; stuff falling out everywhere when opening/closing. Also, a liner would offer a little more protection from dreaded rain.

Although I have to say then didn't leak much at all in a torrential downpour on the way back from Portsmouth. I used waterproof stuff sacks for clothes and anything I wanted to keep dry.

I saw a post of someone who'd make some good mods to there's, but I think bags would be quite convenient.

Any advice appreciated.

I've seen some on ebay for about £27 quid. Very tempting, even for a cheap option.

It's once of those things that's not essential, but it was a pain having things rolling around inside the panniers.

Might loose some space with an inner bag, but at least it makes packing easier.

PS Just looked on Motorworks, they do the BMW liners for £45 ea. Which isn't too bag I suppose. Only works out £10 or so more than the Cee Bailey ones.

Be nice to know whether the aftermarket option are comparable. I have to say, most things I bought that are "BMW" have been pretty well made.

Bought an offbrand on the "IBMWR.ORG" website from a private individual that had traded his bike. Pretty cheap at the time, keep an eye on that website, have bought a few items there, and of course EBAY.

I bought some generic nylon bags from eBay UK which do me fine (one in each case), though they are default rectangular & don't have the bulges which exactly match interiors of BMW boxes. I usually tour 'scruffy' and without wife, so wouldn't spend the extra money on the OEM BMW bags unless you stay in nice hotels with the Mrs

I also use excellent 'Boot Bagz' from Andy Strapz, a firm who I never hesitate to get a recommendation in for (Red for clean, Black for laundry...):

I use garbage bags (the hefty ones) and it works just fine. It is easy to figure out a way to stuff them with the lid half opened and use the maximum space. I use individual stuff bags in them (the ligth ones from Sea to Summit) and they compress on each other for a tight fit. Keep in mind that you want to to keep your oil container separate...That would be a problem with the inner bags !

I've found that "freebie" book bags from conventions are just about the perfect size. As well as the reusable fabric grocery bags now available at many grocery stores.

If all that's needed is a bag for transporting the contents from cases into the house or hotel. Who cares if they match anything?

I'm not bothered by looks either, I'm just after something that's easy to pack, easy to get in and out and something with zips!!

Don't need to carry into a Hotel, as my biking trips always involve camping.

I use the Triumph OEM bags off of my 2003 Sprint ST. They were less than half the cost of the BMW bags and fit just fine. Come complete with a main and a side compartments, handles, and shoulder strap.

Zip Loc (yes, that zip loc) actually makes a bag big enough to fill a pannier and work excess air out of your packed load. They are good for probably 20,000 miles a pop and cost way less than $10...
