Places to attach bungee chords/netting?

Either my contacts are too dry but really can't seem to find any good places to attach bungee cords or netting. On my R11R there was a plethora of places where hooks would attach easily but on the R12R I can only find maybe one good spot and with most nets you need at least two and hopefully three...

So if anyone has any secret places they attach their bungee hooks please do share them with the rest of us!

Personally - IMHO - bungee nets are an accident waiting to happen. They are too fragile for the purpose, and if one gets loose and wraps around a rear wheel.. well - ugly thought.

I really prefer "RokStraps" - http://www.rokstraps.com/index2.html - the "fixed end" (the elastic short end) can be attached around the bag mounts - and then the long adjustable end can hook onto the frame - I fasten mine onto the frame where the rear passenger pegs attach. Nice part is - no metal parts to scratch the bike or take your eye out.

I've used, and still use, a bungee net. It may have downsides, but it seems to work. I agree it is difficult to attach on the R12R.

Don: Can you take some pics of your bike loaded with the RokStraps on?

Be glad to if my sleeping bag and waterproof duffle weren't buried in the cellar. Let me poke around a bit and see if I have a pic.. might have one from on the way to a campground.

I'm glad you go to a lot of rallies and are very involved in the BMW scene, as you always seem to have a connection or scoop on new or non-mainstream products. For example, I didn't know about these straps - thanks!

I don't know what A&S charges for shipping, but this outfit on ebay charges the same for the straps and only $2.67 for S&H.

If it wasn't so much trouble I'd give to some needy person all three of my bungy nets also. I never use them and I pack for rallies every other week or so. ROK straps are pretty good. I found two of them at Big Lots a local sort of clearance store for 3$ a piece. I usually use nylon webbing with the hard plastic snaps. My tail rack affords me plenty of places to fix my stuff to.

I have to assume that you do not have the rear rack/passenger hand rails/luggage mounts. If the look does not bother you this makes a great platform to carry gobs of stuff with lots of attachment points. The grab rails are nice for the passenger also. Mounts to the same holes as the regular luggage mounts. If you do not have it check it out. I think the bike looks better with it than without.

These loops might help too - they are useful for creating a loop to attach straps to eg: round pillion footpegs etc:

The luggage rack / hand rails / luggage mounts can be purchased (around $300) from your BMW dealer. It is listed as a baggage porter kit part # 71607699528 and will contain the left and right side case holders (mounts),luggage rack and handrails. Hope this helps.
