I truly don't understand the obsession with being able to flatfoot a motorcycle. It's nice but not necessary. I walk my bike in and out of parking slots. I walk my bike in and out of the driveway. There's no doctrine that says the only way to maneuver a bike is to sit on it and paddle it around. Ob...

You won't be as fast thru the twisties but the trade-off is comfort. I just a did a 5000k trip on my Rockster and was thankful even for the extra weight. But don't get me wrong, it still takes a fast rider to outrun me in the twisties. The Rockster chassis doesn't get upset easily and the motor has ...

After about an hour or so, my knees start to burn. The only remedy I've found so far is to stop for a few minutes. I've tried the "feet on the heads" but it seems dangerous and the position doesn't allow enough relief.

Not only are they different, most guys go one step hotter on the secondary plug. NGK DCPR(7)EKC instead of 8. The primary plugs are NGK BKR7EKC.

The other spark is on the bottom of the cylinder behind the metal cover. You'll have to remove the 2 allen screws to remove it. I ordered NGKs from from my local auto parts store.

Here's a bit of fyi for you. It's important to spray something like WD40 on the forks tubes above the seals and let it run down to the seals. This will keep the rubber plyable and make 'em last longer. But even still, bikes don't like to sit for extended periods, even new ones. Fork seals are minor,...

Wow, that sucks for you. Is your bike still under warranty? There's a good lesson to be learned though-don't let your bike sit for such long periods. It was suffering form separation anxiety and wet itself in anticipation of going out for a ride! :P

As many people that panic over oil useage, you'd think BMW would change their components to something that consumes less oil. My 04 Rockster uses around a quart every 1000 miles and it's no bfd to me. However, alot of people tend to think it's a very big deal and I imagine BMW loses sales over this ...

My Rockster windshield is very noisy, so much so, I've been leaving it off and braving the cold. Would a laminar lip or some such device make any difference? I'd like to use it during the cold season if the buffetting was calmed down a bit.

Re: Modifications

Performance modifications don't usually interest me since coming from a Harley, the Rock is a rocket i.e. plenty for me to handle. But look at my posting: Rockster + Tourer. I changed out the bars for the Roadster bars. Much better. Next I lowered the pegs and got a Sargant seat. Much, Much better....
