Re: Goodbye Rockster
Thanks for asking, Riceburner. I am totally fine. I lost traction on a wet ramp on the Brooklyn Queens Expressway. Driven that ramp some 2,000 times, and all of a sudden the rear wheel just slipped away and Rockster and me fell on the left side. I was back on my feet in a fraction of a second, not a...

After 4 years, 28,000 miles and many great lots of memories, one little spill turned out to be too much and my Rockster was totaled. I am sorry to see it go.

Re: R1150R iABS-ectomy BMW Integrated ABS Removal
Sweatmark, hi there. Time for the ABSectomy on my 2004 Rockster (Third ABS modulator has rear brake motor shut, hence would have to change everything...). Was counting on your instructions, however, I only see the headers (parts, procedure etc) in your first message but not the actual instructions. ...

Re: Replacement tires for Rockster
I put on 11,000 miles, including a few racetrack ones, on my first set of Michelin Plot Road II.
I find they have solid grip in the rain, and I was on the racetrack yesterday, leaning all the way with complete confidence in the tires.

Re: Low idling RPM and engine dies when revving too gently
the fuel filter was replaced at the 24,000 miles service, the throttle and body sync with valve adjustments at 32,000, when a canister-ectomy was also performed. I trust you guys are right, so that the 36,000 miles service should take care of it. Even though I am mystified that after only 4,000 mile...

Low idle RPM and engine cuts off when revving too gently
Hi there, my Rock has almost 36,000 m and is ready for full service. However, lately I have experienced something new: when I rev up too gently from idling (at a light or a stop) the engine dies. If I give the throttle a firmer, more aggressive turn, the engine will just rev up normally. It's drivin...

Re: Horn's dilemma
Well, I finally got a new used horn for $ 15 (from BeemerBoneyard), swapped it with the old one. After some initial failure - the horn would not work properly at times - I moved the cable around a bit and it has worked fine ever since. I still don't know if it was the horn or the cable, but no matte...

I believe you would have to rewire with the relay that comes with the Stebel

Horn's dilemma
fellow rocksterers, the horn of my 2004 rockster has been acting up lately. it sounded as it had a cold, and became weaker before not working at all. a mechanic in Brooklyn charged me $25 to move/reroute some of the wires, which, he said, were pulling on the horn wire and created the problem (I have...

Re: Rekey system cases - HELP, lost cases key!
SO, I just lost the only key to my system cases. it flew out of my unzipped pocket on the highway. It's a different key than the ignition one, since I got the cases second hand, always meant to re-key them so that the ignition key would work, but didn't get around to it.... The cases are now mounted...

Re: How many have had a bad ABS pump? update
Brem & all, It was indeed the ABS modulator (pump). They told me they had to replace it, @ $1,900 + labor ($ 98 per hour). Luckily I found out from the records in my possession, that a week before selling me the bike, the previous owner had the modulator replaced under warranty, 11 months ago, b...

Re: How many have had a bad ABS pump?
I am not sure it's the ABS pump or the servo or what, but... This morning i run through a stop as I haven't notice the brake light flashing madly and realize I have only "residual braking function" left on my rock. tonight, as I am parking after a 10 minute ride around the block for 10 min...

potentially stupid newbie post #2, on luggage rack install
Ok, so I bought a used luggage rack and system cases for my 2004 Rockster (they are the same as the classic R 1150 and mount in the same way). I assume bolting on the rack would be fairly simple, but I didn't even get to find that out. The plastic pieces that cover the rear threaded holes to secure ...
