Re: New Tires!

That's what they were when I bought them; their listed price. I would not have switched to something else though for $20 to be honest. I mount them myself so that was the total charge for me. OK , thanks. I thought you may have had a coupon code or something like that. I only have about 2k on my Pi...

Re: New Tires!

I put on a set of PR3s the other day and only rode once, but they feel good--maybe a little more comfortable ride??? in city riding. Again, no light spot dot, but they most ceratinly do have one. Two ounces of lead opposite the metal valve stem on the rear. The vale stem doesn't weigh that much doe...

Re: New Tires!

I replaced my Metzeler Z6 with the new Pirelli Angles. I really like the way I can "feel" the contact patch in the corners. Confident, especially on the wet road.
Also hear a lot of good things about the Michelin PR3s.

Re: Replacing my 1150R

I sold my R1150R "as is" just over a year ago after a spline shaft failure. I bought the F800ST mostly due to the praises of Cycle Rob. I have 12K miles on it now and really like the bike. Much easier to ride (light and nimble) and the 800 motor has more than enough power and torque. I jus...

Re: My spline shaft failed today

Well, she is gone. Sold her last night with the fried spline shaft. I have a clear conscious in that obviously the buyer knows what is wrong with the bike and has a plan to fix it. The buyer knows the history of the spline shafts with these bikes in that he has been here on this site and read throug...

Re: My spline shaft failed today

I talked to a local BMW mechanic this morning to pick his brain a bit about what to do with my R1150R with the blown spline shaft. I had the bike listed on the BMWMOA site for $3500 and no response. He said that was too much and if I got $2500 I would be doing good. I changed the ad to "$2500 O...

Re: New F800 ST transmission

Can an improperly reinstalled oil dip stick cause poor shifting? I checked mine after the weekend and there were a couple of gouges in the plastic as if it was grinding on something and slightly bent. I showed it top the service writer at the dealership and he said "nothing to worry about, they...

Re: Plan B

I took a long hard look at Honda before I decided on the 800ST. The VFR 800 was discounted significantly and also looked at the new VFR 1200. The 1200 was very expensive (18k+ out the door) and the saddle bags were extra! I stayed with the BMW brand for the most part because the F800ST has so far pr...

Re: New F800 ST transmission

Well, good to hear this does happen and I probably don't have lemon.
I will definately bring it up tomorrow at the dealer if for no other reason as to have it documented in case this turns out to be a warranty issue.

New F800 ST transmission

I just picked up a new F800ST Friday. Took her to Oregon over the weekend for about 800 miles on the twisties break-in ride. One thing I am concerned about is that when shifting from 4th to 5th and 5th to 6th I hit "neutral" about 40-50% of the time. I pulled the clutch back in and up or d...

Re: My spline shaft failed today

dgates, Let us know how You like the 800. I just got back from Oregon a couple of hours ago. We did 800+ miles on twisty roads. The F800ST handled great. It was tough keeping the RPMs below 5k for the break in. It really smoothed out by the end of the day and the gas mileage improved significantly ...

Re: My spline shaft failed today

Congrats on the 800ST. Did the dealer offer you a trade-in? Just curious. The dealer never offered and I never asked. I have some suggest I part it out to make more money. This will take time and space neither of which I have much to spare. The service manager at the dealer felt it should/could be ...

Re: My spline shaft failed today

Just got home with my new F800ST. I had to move the R over to the side of the garage to make room. I had a strange, slightly emotional feeling overcome me while moving the old girl. I found myself holding on to her grips and then gave her a slight pat on the seat as to say thanks for the many great ...

Re: My spline shaft failed today

Well, I bit the bullet today and bought a new 2009 F800ST. Just got back from the dealer and going back in a couple of hours to pick her up. I blame CycleRob :D Now the question is what to do with the R. Dealer quote for spline shaft repair was $1700-2000. Fix and then sell or do I part her out as s...

Re: My spline shaft failed today

I checked out the new VFR 1200 last night. Very pretty bike and felt good in the saddle etc... MSRP is $16K + tax/license and the hard bags are not included. Yikes, that is more than the K1300S. I had to walk away. I have been intrigued by the F800ST (especially after reading CycleRobs comments). I ...

Re: My spline shaft failed today

Thanks for the card.
I had 42k+ miles. There were no signs of problems and no prior work performed on the clutch or slave cyliner.
She has been a good bike, but I think it is time to move on???

My spline shaft failed today

Was on my way home this afternoon accelerating from a stop light and while shifting from 1st to 2nd the engine reved like I hit neutral, only to notice a loud grinding noise. Try shifting to 3rd, back to second... Hazard lights on and coasted to the side of the road. Noise is not as bad in neutral t...

I have always heard good thing about SW moto tires. Free/fast shipping and low prices. I know some people who mount their own tires and always go through these guys. May be worth checking for price comparison.

Re: Z6 or Diablo Strada

I have had both and liked the Stradas best. They have a tall profile that really drops the bike into the lean.
I understand that the Diabolo Stradas have been d/c and replaced by the Pirelli Angels. Not 100% sure on that though...
I got good mileage on both tires ~10,000 miles.
