Wind Noise (and I don't mean after eating a curry !)

Since returning to biking after many decades absence I was advised and have been wearing earplugs for each and every trip/ However, whilst the ear plugs are really very effective the noise of the wind continues to be very intrusive. It becomes most apparent when I lower my head well below the screen...

Hello ! Yes I adore my K1200GT and as I approach my 51st birthday I have to say that the return to biking has made me so much younger ! All the best PS Anyone want a 15K miles; pristine condition R1150R; brand new tyres; new MOT; just services and FSH (BMW); couldn't be a better way to start the sum...

I have yielded and now a K1200GT (sorry chaps !)

Test drove a K1200GT with 15k miles; it was gorgeous. as I rode th R1150R home I just knew that it couldn't last. I spoke to my wife and now, some 6 hours later, the K12GT is in the garage, alongside the R1150R. Thanks to all who have so enthusiastically responded to my many queries over the past 4 ...

Still pondering though ....

Nothing controversial about it. You are talking about a 130+ hp 4 cylinder, vs. a 85+ hp 2 cylinder. Well it's 167bhp so I am now informed :D :!: However my point has been missed; bikers keep on about the power and the speed of this bike. I contend that this bike is a wonderful motorcycle in all se...

Sorry guys I'm going to be controversial again  I hear so many of you talking about the awesome performance and the fact that the K1200S is SO FAST that you found yourself doing 130 when you thought you were doing 80 ...... I say " rubbish " to that ! I have just had a lovely detour h...

Is this treachery ......?

I mean, it must have happened to some of you. I mean, there you are feeling quite content about life with an R1150R and then it happens; quite out of the blue ... and you just know it'll change things .... permanently .... Taking your bike to be serviced does have its downside... especially when the...

Hi; I recently returned to biking after a 27 year absence. Now, after around 2000 miles of re-acclimatisation and advanced riding through my local group, I feel I have a view on this. The R is a "powerful bike" in the sense that you can get into a whole lot of trouble very quickly. However...

No I haven't bought anything yet. I'm really after some advice now that you can see (from my picture taken this morning) exactly what I have and the type of mounting I have.

Any advice on what'll fit is appreciated.

Hello TicTac50 :

OK; so what you are saying is that all I need to do is buy the panniers? Which ones would you recommend please? (Thinking of ebay here !)

Not a full picture of the bike, but I just love the shot. Was taken last summer on a trip the wife and I took to see how many covered bridges in Oregon we could find. We saw about half of them, 22, have about 25 more to go. http://i68.photobucket.com/albums/i37/bmwsit/100_0021.jpg Hello SitR1150R; ...

Givi top box (want matching panniers)

Hi chaps; this is my current set up
Image

I guess I need sort sort of brackets to hold paniers and then the panniers themselves. Do any of you have such a setup and, if so, able to point me at the correct products>

Thanks !

[snip] As far as slow speed turns etc...you can still pump the clutch in and out rather than drag it (constant slipping it)..it maybe not as smooth but will work...IMO. All this is just my opinion and I'm no expert... :D DJ Well, if I engage the clutch fully I will travel at around 12mph (give or t...

John - The other technique for low speed carpark type manouvers and negotiating cones etc is to trail the rear brake. You can use less cluth sip and and mix it with a bit of light rear braking. It's one of the other things taught here. Mick. Yes, Mick; that's exactly what I meant in my opening para...

It's worth changing your technique if you are a clutch slipper if you want your clutch to last on our bikes. Not sure what technique you are proposing; please tell ! It recommended that you take a break after extended slow work and ride around at 'road speed' for a few minutes to give the clutch a ...

Smelly Clutch

My R's now got 15k miles on the clock and today I went on our local Advanced Motorcycling "Machine Control Day". Apart from doing lots of emergency stops which certainly proved the value of servo brakes and ABS . For most of the 3 hours, we practised riding between cones at ultra slow...
