Re: ABS failure

I had the same issue with my 2007 R1200R. The ABS light was on and off at different times until it came on for good and would not turn off. So I took it to my local BMW dealer. He said, if it was the ABS pump, it would cost around $2400 parts and labor. So I told him to check it out. If it was somet...

Re: R12 Front Wheel Tool

Thanks dbrick, my tool is a finnished product. I plan to hook up with a fellow R1200 rider and fabricate with him a tool of his own. When we do that, I'll take step by step photo's to create a slidshow of the process similar to your post. I'll do my best to do it this weekend.

Re: R12 Front Wheel Tool

Very nice. I too made one. A little different than yours, but does the same job. If someone can explain how to post photos, I'll share my version with everyone.

Re: loose screws

Thanks for the tip. I pulled my bags off yesterday and every screw was loose. Hadn't lost any. Used a drop of locktight on each screw. I'll make it a point to keep an eye on them.

Re: windshields for R1200R

I have a Parabellum mounted on my bike. I've been very pleased with over the years. I'm 6'1" and use the tall windshield. I had a Parabellum on my R1100R, which I was very happy with so I bought one for my R1200R.

Re: Grips

My O ring kit arrived this week and were installed this morning. A total of 62 O rings, 31 on each grip. The diameter is a great improvement over stock, without being overbearing . I've only riden about 60 miles today, but they feel very comfortable. My crampbuster fits much better too. It has alway...

Re: BMWNEF Winter Rally @ Camp Blanding, Fla 1/14 - 16

I'm going to have to pass this year. The Winter Rally is about 40 miles from my home, and I've attended many over the past years. But, I recentlly started a new job and there no way to get time off. Many of my local buds will be there.

Re: Grips

What an great idea. I've never been pleased with BMW grips. But, have always shyed away from foam type covers fearing interferance with the heated grips. I would think the O-ring system would increase the diameter, have good grip with bare hands or gloves and allow heat to pass threw. I'm sold. I co...

Re: Disconcecting the battery?

I wouldn't think dissconnecting the battery would have ill effects on the bike. Batteries do go bad and have to be disconnected at some time. I have disconnected my battery to connect some extra electrical goodies. Except for resetting the clock, I have'nt noticed any other problems over the years. ...

Re: Greetings. Newb here...

Welcome. I'm a newbe here also. As an r1200r owner, this is a great place to hang out. I don't think you'll be disappointed with this ride. I went to the local dealer looking to buy an r1200r in 2008. For me, it was hard to financially digest a brand new ride. I saw this 07 sitting outside with the ...

Re: cant wait

Enjoyed a great News Years Day ride today. Rode with three other riders and clicked off 250 miles. Mid 70's, sunny. Took some nice roads to a News Years Day Party. Met up with other fellow riders and pigged out on good food. Good ride, good friends, & good food. Happy New Year to All. Russ N.E. ...

Re: cant wait

Wow, I feel for you guys. Being born and raised up north, I know what your feeling. It's also the reason I've lived in Florida the past 25 years. It has been pretty chilly around here this past month. My on board thermometer hit 22 degrees one morning while riding to work, but we don't have to garag...

Re: Happy Holidays!

Hello Doug, Thanks to the welcome. Let me clarify things. The R1200R is not new to me, just the hand gaurds. I purchased my '07 model used in '08. I purchased it from the local dealer. It had less than 8,000 miles on her, and it was literally like new. I've been riding BMW's for over 25 years and th...

Thanks Ric, the Storm stickers were removed before I mounted the handgaurds. I'm not too fond of name plates either.

Re: Happy Holidays!

Well, after reviewing some very worthwhile advice for my '07 R1200R, I decided to join today and use this forum to say hello to all of you. I was recently searching the web for an alternate to the costly BMW hand guards, and was directed here, where I discovered the Barkbuster Storm Hand guards. Wit...
