Re: Harley advantages over BMW, any?
I have had several BMW's and HD's. I ride around 30,000miles a year in all kinds of weather, my everyday bike is an Electra glide Limited, it is super easy to work on, extremely reliable, parts are very cheap, it is easy to upgrade in any way, and a joy to ride. I sold my R1150r, but enjoyed it very...

Once in many years and miles, and the guy was trying to wreck me for sure. Pull over and pull out your side arm.

Re: Can anything make the R1150r louder?
I have run every combination I could think of on my bike. The best set up I came up with was; x pipe, Leo Vince exhaust with baffle out, Dobeck tuner. Bike put down 72ft/lb torque and 81 horsepower with 70000 miles on the clock. Great low end torque, that set up actually felt better out on the road ...

Re: Michelin pilot 4 tires
5-6k on a set of tires? I got that life out of a set of Pilot Powers, much less touring tires. At your rate of consumption I would be buying tires every 35-40 days! Do you put air in them? Lol. The motor officers that I talk to are getting more than that even running on the shoulders of the road.

Re: Deck Performance fuel controller
No, if I saw anything that looked like it needed attention I would have spent a little time with it, but the bikes runs out 100% on the setting suggested by Dobeck. I just did 3 quick pulls, 3rd one was best, no surprise, no holes or flat spots. I was surprised that it hadn't lost a step over the ye...

Re: Michelin pilot 4 tires
Just over 22,000 miles on the GT4?s now, they are shot, barely round. Longevity was ok but they chopped badly very quickly. A fair amount of two up riding, several thousand miles of fully loaded, spirited touring, and a little track time. I found them to deliver excellent grip, hot or cold, wet or d...

Re: Deck Performance fuel controller
Just had a chance to put the old girl on the dyno, I am not willing to jump through the hoops required to post the sheet. 81.11 HP at 6500rpm and 71.07 Max torque at 5600 rpm. The HP goes above 75 at 5500 and drops below at rev limit, torque above 65 ft at 3500 and drops below at 6550 rpm. A little ...

Re: Michelin pilot 4 tires
We just all like to ride. All year long we get hard core riders in here, of course mostly on Harleys, guys and gals with 100,000+ miles on their bikes, there may be some friendly ball breaking but at the end of the day we all love to ride. I do have 2 Harleys in the garage right now also.

Re: Michelin pilot 4 tires
Gregory, my commute to Battlefield Harley Davidson is 85 miles a day, lately I have been running my daughter to her job as well cranking that up to 160 miles a day. I am also such a simpleton that when I get home I will generally change bikes and go for a ride for fun, but the BMW gets most of the e...

Re: Michelin pilot 4 tires
13,000 miles on the GT4s now, they chopped quickly and then just kind of hit a holding pattern. Don't seem to be any worse than they where at 7k, front is holding up very well even with some recent VERY spirited riding.

Re: Michelin pilot 4 tires
With 7,000 miles on the GT4's the rear is heavily chopped on the edges and the center is starting to wear badly, it looks like this tire will see @12,000 and be totally shagged. The front is like new. I would have to say the old model GT3 was a much better tire all things considered, I am surprised ...

Re: Michelin pilot 4 tires
4500 miles on now, rear tire is beginning to chop, I can't say I remember that being an issue with the GT3s, time will tell.

My favorite boot that leaves all the others in the closet is the Harley Davidson Riddick. Quick, comfy, well made, versatile.

Re: Deck Performance fuel controller
The Motronic unit may be great but after removing the catalyst and adding a free flowing silencer the bike was lean to the point of not running at all, so it was not able to adapt. With the catalyst removed and the stock muffler in place it ran fine, maybe the best setup for the bike as no additiona...

Re: Deck Performance fuel controller
I forgot, stock intake with stock BMW high flow filter. Mileage really has not changed much regardless of many kinds of set ups. Mileage does suffer as my speed increases during pure highway riding, anything north of an indicated 78 mph really drops my mpg, I had a tank on my last trip running @90mp...

Re: Deck Performance fuel controller
Last tank was 46.93mpg.High test fuel with Startron additive, GT4 tires at 45lbs, Mobil1 4t in motor, 75-90 gl5 in trans and rear, no catalyst, x pipe, LeVinci exhaust no baffle, and Dobeck at recommended settings. My commute is 48 miles each way, half twisty mountain road, half freeway and I ride f...

Re: Deck Performance fuel controller
Fuel economy has suffered, used to get 46mpg prior to the Dobeck, now I am getting 45mpg. I have not experienced any tuning difficulty, but have never fine tuned it on a dyno, I will report back when I have a chance to do so, may be a bit though. I would love to see pulls with other tuning options, ...

Deck Performance fuel controller
Just wanted to sing the praises of the Dobeck programmer once again. What an incredible upgrade for the R1150r, no surging, smooth throttle transitions, perfect programming when eliminating catalytic converter, more power everywhere, just simply amazing. When I get a chance I will strap Gertrude to ...
