Re: Vibes and fuel consumption

Stick coils was indeed the obvious one so i put 2 new ones in but problem persists.. vibey over 3000 rpm (a bit more throaty sounding as well) and very poor mpg. Don't think there is much power loss. I'll check the carb balance again, but last week it was ok. Guess i'll wait for some better weather ...

Vibes and fuel consumption

Hi hope anyone can help with the following. Last few weeks my 2003 rockster has developed slightly more-than-usual vibes and my fuel consumption is now down to ~24 mpg! For the rest it runs ok actually. I had 12K mile service done by BMW just a few months ago, assume they did the valve clearances. I...

Re: Is this the right place?

Probably slightly cheaper to get a blank on Ebay.
Bring to local locksmith, he'll tell you that he cannot guarantee that the key will work since it's not his blank but it all worked fine for me.

If the price would come down by a factor of 3, i would try one of these:
T-800CDi Diesel Motorbike

Re: Fitting R1150R shock on a Rockster

R shocks occasionally pop up on Ebay, but i've never seen Rockster ones. New Rockster shock, if you can find them, are very expensive. Hence my question. 5mm at the shock means a much larger distance down and back at the axle, so i was worried about the geometry as per grwrockster's thoughts. It loo...

Fitting R1150R shock on a Rockster

I was wondering if anyone has an opinion on fitting a r1150r rear shock on a Rockster (ie slightly too short) i.e. opinions for/against and what would be the best way to do this?
change the front shock as well (to what size)?
change the paralever arm (to what size) ?
any other considerations?

Re: MPG - A total let down!

If it's any consolation, my rockster is also doing about 34 mpg. I put it down to short distances city riding, using the bike for a daily 5 mile commute through town. On longer tours it is much more economical, haven;t worked out exaclty how much better I have a twinmax and regularly check the throt...

Re: Spark Plug Miles

But you have to see this in relation to cost/effort. What are we talking here, $10-$20 and 15 minutes work?
I changed mine at 9K and (think) i noticed slightly improved running (probably down to the gaps).
Would you ride another 14K to save $10?

Re: Do rocksters owners mod less than roadster owners?

What about the exhaust? must be one of the most common mods ? oop - yes, have had virtually all variations over the last few years - now running OE cat and a tip. :) Based on your experience then, do you think the cat/tip solution is the best option in terms of power/weight and sound? I did see som...

Re: Brake Fluid Change Interval

#4 and #5 only apply to bikes with ABS, right?
For bike without ABS is it sufficient to bleed the normal way on the caliper and top up on handlebar reservoir ?

Re: Windscreens..

As you say, it diverts the full blast but leaves some healthy wind in your face. I used an old Arai visor which is not so tidy as yours, it has these bits at the side to slot it in the helmet. Feedback i got was: it doesn't even look bad on that bike" or words to that effect. I personally think...

Re: Windscreens..

+1 for the visor solution.
Works brilliantly, and cost me about £4 for the double sided tape.

Re: Peeling forks.....HELP

New to the Rockster (and this forum), but it made me a BMW convert - great bike! Anyhow, i'd like to revive this thread on fork peeling - since i am having the same problem, the forks chipped at the base exposing patches of aluminium corrosion. Don't really want to send the fork off for powder coati...
