Re: My bike consistently runs out of gas

Ran out of gas a couple of times. Last time bike claimed I had 48 miles until I was empty. I have a 22 mile commute so I assumed I could make it 1/2 way to Costco to fill up before I ran out of gas...about 1/2 mile from Costco bike claimed I had 36 miles until empty and I ran out of gas and pushed t...

Coldest Temperature you've ridden you motorcycle in?

As of this morning's commute to work here in Charlotte, NC the coldest I've ridden in is 12.2 degrees. Down from 14 that I've hit the past 2 years commuting to work in winter. I'm excited but for some my coworkers aren't as excited about my accomplishment as I am. :-)

Re: The bike will start at 20

In the R1150R manual book, they have various oil weights based on temperature ranges. I''d guess the same applies for the hexhead engines. You you really want to ride in the cold, you should swap your oil out for something lighter. It'll help the bike crank, and get up into the engine quicker to re...

That worked!

I try to avoid randomly banging on items unless I know that's the "safe" solution. :-)

Thank you for your help!

Re: The bike will start at 20

Last year I used the same technique you used at 20 degrees @ 14 and it started up just fine and got me the 23 miles to work without any complaints. Ran like a champ.

Replacing rear brake pads

Okay this is a pretty newb question. I was attempting to remove my rear brake pads. I removed the cotter pin and attempted to slide the pin going through the brake pads out (towards the bike, to the left) and it does not budge. I tried to turn it. Used a small screw driver to push it through and not...

Great post. Love the detail and the pix, especially since I just ordered a hugger from Nippy.

I will definitely be polishing if up before I put it on the bike.

Thank you

Re: Installing HID conversion kit

Well, I installed the PIAA 15211 H11 Style Xtreme White and I'm pretty happy with them.

Happy enough to return the HID kit that I purchased and save that money for some other "must have" gadgets.

Re: Mirror upgrade? Bar end mirror?

vielzebub Love those mirrors. I just ordered MA506 Rizoma Bar Ends which claim to work well for mounting the "Class Retro" Bar End Mirrors from pjparts.com (Someone in this forum recommended them and I thank them for that because they do appear to be the least expensive based on my poking ...

Mirror upgrade? Bar end mirror?

Looking into changing my mirrors for 1) cleaner look and 2) better visibility behind me as I commute in heavy "stop and go" traffic daily. I've predominantly been looking @ Wunderlich http://www.wunderlichamerica.com/mm5/merchant.mvc?Screen=PROD&Store_Code=WA&Product_Code=1557406&a...

Re: Searching for an aftermarket Silencer for R1200R

I'm in the exact same boat. I do not want "LOUD", I just want something smaller, sleaker looking, and ... this seems to be the hardest part ... NOT have a giant name on the side of the manufacturer. Just a good looking exhaust that hopefully provides some extra bhp too.

That is one cool bike you have there and you're lucky to have some beautiful country roads to ride it on.

Enjoy!

Re: Installing HID conversion kit

I ordered some PIAA 15211 H11 Style Xtreme White and I'll see if I like those. I'm trying to keep my bike as "uncluttered" as possible. (I don't mean that in a bad way and please don't take it that way.) I'm trying to not add additional lighting/gadgets to it, just improve on what's there....

Installing HID conversion kit

I purchased an HID conversion kit from xenondepot.com and I'm trying to figure out how to install it cleanly, safely, and properly on my '08 R12R. Here is the response that I got back from technical support when I emailed them asking how to properly install: Our motorcycle kit will require you to po...
