Okay this is a pretty newb question. I was attempting to remove my rear brake pads. I removed the cotter pin and attempted to slide the pin going through the brake pads out (towards the bike, to the left) and it does not budge. I tried to turn it. Used a small screw driver to push it through and nothing. I though perhaps there was some tension on it from the pads so I removed the entire rear brake caliper and work with the pads to make sure there was no pressure/stress that was holding the pin in place and I've gotten no where.
Side note: Front brakes were a piece of cake....remove cotter pin, slide out other pin and voila I have access to my pads.
Anyone have similar experience? What am I doing wrong?

Re: Replacing rear brake pads
It may just be sticky.. mine turns freely and has been out a number of times (for pad replacement.) If you have a small drift - and a tiny hammer - a bit of light tapping from the outside toward the inside should be productive.

That worked!
I try to avoid randomly banging on items unless I know that's the "safe" solution. :-)
Thank you for your help!

Re: Replacing rear brake pads
The pin that holds the pads in has a type of snap ring on the back side (at least my 03 and 04 does) You do indeed need a small drift or punch slightly smaller in diameter than the outboard side of the pin (RH side) First pull the small clip (as you have already done) and then take the small punch or drift, lay it in the hole on the pin and tap lightly with the hammer. It may take some force first time out as it probably has some light corrosion on it. But it will come out. Clean it with a small piece of scotchbrite and put some light grease on it (not much) when re-installing it.
