Re: Luggage

Thanks. I had not seen this site and will definitely take a look. I know there are several out there. They're just not always easy to find. I appreciate the help.

Re: Luggage

Yep. I did try beemerboneyard. Lots of great stuff (I'll definitely be going back), but just not what I'm needing. The hunt has taken on a life of it's own at this point.

Luggage

Hi All. I'm hoping to get some good advice regarding luggage for my 2004 Rockster. A few months ago I was riding with both side bags only to find the pipe-side bag missing when I pulled in the driveway. I retraced my route several miles, but no luck. I'd like to replace the lost system case for the ...

I just had the same thing happen. I didn't even know it was an issue. When it came off, I thought I was going a little batty for a while. How much does a single case go for anyway?

It's not a factory install... or at least I don't think it was (didn't know you could get a BMW XM Satellite Factory install). I have a Rockster, and the previous owner installed an intercom unit that the Satellite recieiver runs thru. I don't have a headset for it yet, so once I sign up for service...

My bike came with and XM satellite reciever installed (I haven't signed up yet), but I hear XM may be defunct soon. Has anyone else heard such nasty rumors?

While riding the aforementioned V-Max, I swear I could feel the bar running across the back of the seat. So I think anything's possible. However the owner didn't mind the seat at all. I personally plan on upgrading some day. I just wish the seats weren't so expensive. That being said, if ever there ...

Strong backsides aside, maybe it's just a matter of preference or body build. I personally find the Rockster seat too soft. It's nearly as soft as my friends stock V-Max seat which I found uncomfortable on long rides as well (He doesn't seem to have any problem with it). However I had an SV 650 prio...

Yeah, I like the idea of the ELF pegs as well. But not for that amount of money. I'd rather put it into engine guards.

Man... I thought maybe it was just me. My butt was damn sore after just 200 miles. I'd buy the Sargent in a second, but they're not exactly cheap. Plus, I'm assuming the passenger back rest doesn't work with a top case???

My right knee starts to seriously ache after about 2 to 3 hours of straight riding (I seriously thought about buying a Motto Guzzi California because of the problem), but propping my legs up on the boxers really seems to help. However, I find the stock seat much too soft for longer trips, and as was...

yeah, I'm not sure why you'd try to release the center stand w/out sitting on it. I will try your technique for setting the center stand. thanks for the post!

Bummer. I was moderately concerned as they are not water cooled. Luckily I live in an area where I mostly travel against traffic. However, I think you're right on the money when you say install synthetic.

All good info... -Warming up has never been an issue as I live in Phoenix. It's going to be 112 today. How well do the Beemers handle heat? I'm assuming they do much better then was implied in "Zen and the Art ...." -My SV didn't have a center stand, and I have to admit I find getting the ...

Thanks Tom... I really appreciate it. My bike did not come w/ a service manual, so my next step is to purchase one. Anything else I should know about the R1150R? My last bike was an SV 650, which is about as basic as it gets.

Brake Failure Light Stays on

I just brought home my '04 Rockster, and I've noticed that the "Brake Failure" light blinks until the bike is in gear and moving. Then it goes out. I have Cervo ABS, and have never experienced any issues. But does anyone know if this is normal?
