Re: My experience cleaning and polishing pipes
I've been home recovering from having my prostate removed the last several weeks. I couldn't do an awful lot but have done quite a bit of work on my somewhat neglected 2003 R1150R. Never have cleaned the exhaust pipes, they were a mess, mostly dark brown, some dark blue and even darker splotches. I ...

Re: Cleaning and polishing the exhaust pipes.
Thanks for the info on putting the pipes back together Rob, that's exactly what I needed. I had to make a parts order anyways so ordered new exhaust gaskets.

Re: Cleaning and polishing the exhaust pipes.
BMW specs optimoly ta for putting the pipes together. I found it listed at $45 for 400ml. Is there an alternative product that can be used?
Thanks,

Fuel Pump Noise
A few weeks ago I had a fuel tank QD fail. I replaced the QDs with the high dollar Omegas, 4 pieces of new fuel injector hose and 8 fuel injector clamps. Before totally rotating the fuel tank into place I started the bike to check for any leaks on the new installation. Everything looked and sounded ...

Re: Fuel Injector Clamps
Yes, thats what I'm looking for. I checked the local autozone and they didn't know what I was talking about. Already have the yellow stain on the side of the engine from the factory QD breaking.
Thanks,
Rod

Fuel Injector Clamps
I am replacing my fuel tank QDs and need a source for the fuel injector clamps that have been recommended in several posts.

Re: stained engine cases
I just had the same thing happen to me this past week. Quick disconnect failed, I dont know how far I rode like that. Got home and my wife said I smelled like gas. Went out and turned the bike back on and had a jet of fuel spraying out. Noticed the yellow stain, nothing would remove it. Thanks for t...

San Jose Powerflow Induction Kit
I believe some on this forum have installed this. Does this significantly improve performance without additional items like a better exhaust? I live in Colorado at 6500' and my riding ranges between 4000' and 11000' so I'm thinking more air would be a good thing. Seems rather pricey at $359 however....

Lucked out twice
Reading through the posts on this topic reminds me how lucky I have been on 2 occasions. Both times I got on the brakes harder than I intended when I was about to miss a turn. Both times I locked the rear brake and even though I know better mentally, immeadiately released the rear brake. That put me...

Tire Replacement Questions
I called the dealer back and talked to a different person. He said $140 max if bringing the bike in and $30 each if I bring the wheels in. I didn't realize it would be that big a savings. Now I need to check SW tires.
Thanks guys.

Tire replacement questions
Time for new tires, before my last ride (cancelled) I noticed steel belt showing through on the rear. I want to go with Metzler Z6s, cheapest price I have found on the internet was $232 at American Mototire. That includes shipping. My dealer wants $250 for them plus $150 for mounting and balancing i...

Deer Attack
Thats definitely a young mule deer. I have ridden that stretch a lot and its not one I consider bad for deer, at least during the day. Highway 50 between Montrose and Gunnison is the one that scares me. Almost always lots of deer except midday and sometimes elk. I hate it when you dont see the deer ...

Skeepskin-size for R1150R
Mnnden,
Did you get the medium or large sheepskin. I want to give it a try before spending big bucks on a new seat.

Are there any cheaper alternatives to the Pirates Lair or Sargent back rests. They look good but I wince at the price. Never thought I would need one but my wife decided she likes riding with me, which is a good thing.

I've already ordered an Odyssey, should be home before I am. I have pulled the battery each spring, thoroughly cleaned it and filled it, never have seen any corrosion before. Guess I will also be making some of those L shaped adaptors. I appreciate all the help on this.

The battery was my first thought. My charger is a battery tender junior and the green light was lit. The battery is the old wet type, not the newer sealed, and of course 3 years old now. I'm surprised it would have gone bad so soon, as I have nearly always kept it on the charger when inactive.
