Right silencer, wrong pipe??

All my goodies from Hornig arrived today in a big box from DHL. It was like Christmas. Took everything out and inspected and was happy to find everything I had ordered in perfect condition. So one of the guys in the shop isn't doing anything and offers to put the Remus on and of course I took him up on the offer. 20 mins later comes and asks me to have a look as there appears to be a problem. The problem is obvious, the connector pipe running to the silencer is a 54mm diameter and the inlet on the silencer is 60mm. ](*,) This just isn't going to work so I go back to the computer and do a little research - part number for the silencer is correct it appears, but the part number on the connector pipe is actually for the Revolution exhaust, not the PowerCone. Oh well, stuff happens. Email sent to Hornig this afternoon and hope to hear from them tomorrow morning. The cylinder guards and all the little anodized jewelry pieces like the fork caps are very nicely made and installed them all this evening. The stainless Remus canister is beautiful - just wish I had it on the bike. At least if it came with a stand it would be suitable for display on the credenza.

That's a real bummer. Nice exhaust, I doubted long between the Remus powercone and the BOS carbon fiber silencer but ended up buying the BOS. The BOS sounds very nice without the db killer, very dark and low exhaust note with a nice burble and occasional pop on deceleration. Best part of the BOS is that it has a mutch steeper angle then most other cans but will still be able to fit the original BMW cases. The steep angle is also what I like about the Remus powercone, the revolution doesn't have this angle and looks more like the original endcan in this respect.

Not my bike(but the actual bike I testdrove last friday), just ordered the can last friday so I hope it will be in soon.

Mark , Couldn't you just wrap 6mm worth of duct tape around the pipe to make it larger? :smt101

Just a little annoyed over a $10 piece of tubing and that I haven't received a reply to my email from yesterday.

Mark , Are you waiting for an adaptor of some sort?

No, its just the connector pipe that goes from the header pipe/catalyst to the silencer - about a 12" piece of formed tubing. It's actually a Remus part - they just shipped the wrong part. I could probably get a local muffler shop to make something up that will work but I would like the correct piece. I don't have a problem waiting a couple of weeks for it - just nice if I received some communication. Up till now Hornig has been great to deal with - I suspect they'll get it sorted.

Apparently the email communication has not been working on one end or the other - spoke with Helmut this morning by phone and he will get it sorted with Remus. Fortunately his English is better than my German so I think he understands the issue. The call is probably worth more than the connector pipe but at least something is in the works.

While were on exhausts and Remus in particular: What are the collective thoughts on the Powercone vs the Revolution. I know the Powercone is 6mm larger and the latest offering from Remus but I kind of like the looks of the Revolution, both units cost the same from San Jose BMW. My R1200R has bags and I'll most likely rarely take them off.

Also I tend to keep my bikes a long time would I be better off with Titanium over Carbon Fiber. How long does the Carbon Fiber last, on the road.
