My Easter gift to myself!

My first and only post so far asked about alternative mirrors for 'my' R1150R. Now I have a confession to make... I didn't actually
own a R1150R at the time of posting but rather, was actively looking for one.
Today I paid a visit to the main BMW motorcycle dealer in Hamburg, with the intention of taking a closer look at the R1200R before finally deciding on the right bike for me. The 1200 is a very fine machine but when equipped with what I consider to be essential 'extras', i.e. ABS and a centerstand, the new price is, for me, prohibitively expensive at more than 13000 Euros.
I then went to look at the used machines and as I slowly made my way along the lines of bikes, suddenly... there it was! A black '04 R1150R with ABS, centrestand, high screen, system panniers, and 9,900 km on the clock - in immaculate condition. I was able to arrange a test drive on the spot and on my return, I - and the bike! - was sold. I negotiated a 240 Euro reduction - not much I know - on the original price of 8,900 Euros and the deal was done. The bike will get a full service, a new test certificate and one years warranty. Notwithstanding the price difference and the undoubted technical advancements embodied in the R1200R, the R1150R is, to my eyes at least, a much better looking bike... I'm happy!
Here are a couple of photos I took with my mobile phone after the test ride....
just realised I don't know how to insert photos! can anyone help please

Happy Easter!

Congratulations! Fine choice!
To add images put them on an external site like flickr, photobucket or similar and using the Img tag from the list above either side of the URL of the image like this
it'll show up on the page like this one! Have to agree about the looks, it just doesn't get any better than this!!
'Bet you can't wait to get your hands on it!

Excellent choice. Congratulation.
I installed on my R1150 mirrors from K1200RS (2001-2005)
Parts numbers are:
5 1 16 76 53 773 - Left Mirror $50.00
5 1 16 76 53 774 - Right Mirror $50.00
It is only $100.00 and the option is worth the money.
The price is in US Dollars. Negotiate the Euro reduction and you will get it for 50 bucks.
Good luck.

Thanks to you all for your good wishes. Here are the photos of my new baby, taken with my mobile phone just after the test ride.... thanks for the info on how to do this, Chris! ...that's a fantastic shot of your bike btw.
Looking forward to a great summer riding the black beauty around Germany and beyond... and to keeping in touch with my new like-minded friends from around the world
Cheers!
Mike
EDIT - still haven't got the hang of this!

... so what went wrong there

It looked as if you had done everything Chris suggested. I'm only asking because I want to know!
I copied and pasted the address into my browser and found the site OK. Nice bike. Enjoy!

I don't think Flickr allows external links?... Try photobucket...

I know what you did, with Flickr you can't just use the direct URL from the address bar because it's a link to a page and not to the image itself..
Open the image page, click on 'all sizes' to view whichever size you want to use and copy the photos url from box number 2 at the bottom of the page and paste that in the space between the tags. There you go! Pics!
It's a beauty!!!!

Thanks Chris... I was sure you'd come up with the solution to the problem! Grateful to you for posting the pics for me.
...and thanks to everyone for the comments
Dave... I wondered the same about the pipes. I must remember to ask when I pick up the bike.

Hi Chris... all being well I'll pick the bike up next Saturday - can hardly wait!
BTW, I see from your profile that you're a pianist too... this is also
my other passion, with the emphasis on 'classical'. Chopin and the R1150R... life dosen't get any sweeter!

Congratulations on your new bike Chris. Excellent choice! Now would you like to record a classical piece, get a BLOG going in Multiply or something and download the song there for all of us to appreciate??

Choose a Chopan song that you think would best relate to the 1150R. That could then be yours and the bike's theme song.... or even ours as well !!

Chopin is my favourite! Just been practicing 'Chanson d l'adieu' and 'Valse op64-2' this morning, wouldn't call myself a pianist, but I manage. Saturday is a long way off, I had a similar wait when I got mine...Friday night may be sleepless!
