I drove to Tampa on Monday to pick up my new (to me) 2004 1150 R and rode it extensively today for the first time. A very different and satisfying experience.

I've been riding a big muscle cruiser, a Kawasaki Meanstreak and love the bike, but I wanted something different, and the BMW is different. All of the advice on its handling characteristics and shifting idiosyncracies discussed on this board have been very helpful, although I feel like a beginner again. Aside from the ergonomics, the biggest adjustment has been the quiet. This bike is going to score big points with my neighbors.

The bike is silver which, it goes without saying, is the coolest if not the fastest color.

I look forward to hanging out with you all.

Al

Hi and congrats on the bike! Have to agree about the colour... BUT it's also the fastest...
Sure you'll enjoy it and anything you want to know can be found on the board, always someone willing to help out here! :D

Congratulations. You will a lot of fun with this bike.

And silver is a very nice color because it is so close to granite grey.

I think the hardest part of going from an import to a BMW is re-learning the signal controls!

Enjoy the bike!
