Well i did it, I road out to Coutry Rode BMW to JUST test ride the new R1200R and I was love struck! I had tried to resist but I gave an offer to the dealer that I fully expected him to reject, instead he said OK. Then 2hrs later I was on my way home on a completely different bike than I left home with, thinking how I was going to explain this purchase to my loving wife. Well after buying her a steak dinner and agreeing to remodling the basement she is already talking to me again.......that went well after all. I traded my 2002 red non abs model with 36k miles for a 2007 metalic gray abs model with grips, center stand, sport shield, computor, AND bags. This bike does EVERTHING at least one notch better than the 1150.............loven it!!!!! :D

There seems to be a rather common thread here--say whatever you like about numbers, looks, how your oilhead is fabulous, they've lost the plot :D Just don't ride one, it may alter your preconceptions  Except for johno. :) I think I predicted this last year on this forum  And yes, I haven't ridden one yet, will hang off until a little later this year. Live a long way from a dealer; rode an R1200ST last time down, could be the one.

It's always easier to ask forgiveness than to ask permission.

Congratulations. Enjoy. Granite gray is definitely the fastest color.

Allan

I most sincerely object.
Granite grey comes in a matte finish which adds air resistance compared with glossy coat (healthier anyhow with any animal...).
Crystal grey is definitely the fastest color!

.... I insist.

pinstriping furthers the aerodynamics of the gloss paint and channels the air smoothly over the tank ---- thus the black with the pinstriping is yet even faster.

Welcome to the fun!

Your post should reiterate a warning I give to all:

IF YOU TEST RIDE THIS BIKE YOU BETTER BRING YOUR CHECKBOOK BECAUSE YOU ARE GOING TO BUY IT!

Enjoy the fun.

I have to go with r12r-don on this one, and I haven't even picked mine up yet! :D or should it be  as the weather is finally heading into the plus degrees C. Slowly and single digits, but moving.
