Rick Mayer Seat

I have the standard height seat on my RR. For me, it is an exercise in pain. I talked with Rick Mayer yesterday and ordered one of his seats. Never had one before, but I've certainly read tons of excellent reviews of his product on the LT site. Build date is the first week in May. No loaner seat, so I will be without a seat for two weeks or so. Small price to pay for comfort. I am doing what he calls a modified solo, which includes some additional foam/modification to the passenger seat and the custom modification to my half. $369.00 plus $200.00 done in leather and $35.00 shipping. Ride report and photos when I get it.

This is terrific news! You never hear anything but good reports about Rick's seats. First week in May? It is only April here in Tennessee.
I for one await your report on tender hooks.

Received a production date last week for 5/15/07. Meantime, the sadistic butt punishment continues........

It is funny how different each person can be. I have the tall seat on my bike and it is great. Not butt, knee, nor hip pains.

Hope the new seat works for you.

Funny you should say that. I just spent all day on my bike last weekend and the seat didn't bother me near as much as it did at first. I may be getting used to it.

TWI: I just swapped my standard seat for the tall seat on Saturday. Figured it couldn't be any worse than the standard height. Rode 170 miles on it yesterday for the first time. Much, much more comfortable for me than the standard. At this point though, I am still planning on the Mayer seat. If I ride the bike to Memphis this weekend and it ends up being as comfortable as it was yesterday, I may have second thoughts.
