After market seats

I've recently contacted both Corbin and Sargent and inquired as to when/if they are going to make a saddle for our bike. Both companies said that they "may", it just depended on demand. If you guys would take a few minutes and go on their sites and tell them you're interested in a seat, it might serve to speed up the process. The more options we have the better.

I'm all about that ( this is the way us hipsters talk ). I e-mailed Sargents. I have not e-mailed Corbin though. I'm not sure I would buy one of their seats without being able to try it first. I don't hear much good about them.
They seem (seem) to be the aftermarket seat of choice for riders who don't know about the other good brands out there. This could be just my perception though.

Mark: I know some guys don't like the Corbin seat. I had one on my old RT and one on my S and found both of them to be much more comfortable than the OE from BMW. My guess is that Corbin will build a seat for our bike before Sargent. Can't hurt to send Corbin an email too.

I've had both Sargent and Corbin seats. Both were huge improvements over the stock seats on my bikes (ST1100, & R1150RT). That said, I much preferred dealing with Sargent. I talked on the phone with someone there who was very helpful with questions I had. Corbin on the other hand seemed to have had poor customer service, at that time anyway. Plus Corbin charged my credit card at the time I ordered, not when they finally shipped my seat many weeks later. Call me old fashioned, but I found that to be objectionable. So, I'll try the stock seat on my R1200R for a while. I pick it up in about a week. Then, I'll probably call Sargent.

Hello folks! New to the forum. It's a good site, very informative. I'm a new owner of an R1200R. I've called the two seat manufacturers as well. The BMW dealer recommends that I give the new seat time to wear in. He says it will feel better over time. I haven't ridden the bike far yet, but I've had first hand knowledge of another late model BMW seat that was excruciating. I found the Boxer Design site here. They have a seat that looks pretty good and if my Euro- to-dollar conversion is correct, costs about $380.00. Does anyone have any experience with this company? Thanks.

I've been calling and emailing Corbin since January when I ordered my bike. I've heard the same that the others have. Haven't called anyone else yet.

Anyone live on the west coast with an R12R? Corbin is always looking for volunteers to lend them their bike so they can create a seat for it.

Russell , Rick Mayer , and Rocky Mayer also make great seats and should be pestered. I have sampled a Russell for a short while and both the wife and I liked it alot.

Rmak...I liked the looks of that seat on the Boxer Design RR, but couldn't get their site to load. Tried several times. The price doesn't sound too bad. Is it leather or vinyl? You thinking about ordering one if your OE seat doesn't get any more comfortable?

I have the factory "high" seat that will be coming in on another R in a week or two. Dealer ordered another R with the high seat for me. Sits an inch taller than the stock height seat. My guess is that it has an inch more foam in it. I have a 32 inch inseam and can easily add another inch on the seat. We'll see if the tall version is any more comfortable.

Got an email from Mark in R and D at Sargent Cycle today. They are interested in making a seat for our bike, but they are having difficulty getting a hold of a bike/seat. No local BMW dealer near them. They are located in Jacksonville, FL. Anyone nearby that could help them out????

I asked him if just a seat would help vs bike and seat. I'll wait to hear back from him. If just a seat will work, I'll see what I can work out with my dealer.

Thanks for the information. ....very good input and well noted.

Actually we already have our own OE pans and are starting the pan digitizing process immediately. We won't need a bike until the next phase (in about 6 weeks). I feel confident that we will have local access by then.
